1. India targets 1.2 billion ton coal production by 2023-24
- The government has implemented a number of steps including revenue share mechanism, rolling auction, and single window clearance to boost output.
- Coal India Limited (CIL) has envisaged a coal production programme of one Billion Tonne from CIL mines.
2. RBI projects India GDP growth rate at 7.8% for FY23
- Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das projected India’s economic growth for the financial year 2023 (FY23) at 7.8%.
- The growth rate for the current financial year is retained at 9.2%.
- The governor said there was some loss of economic momentum due to the third pandemic wave and the demand for contact intensive sector is muted.
3. Reliance New Energy buys additional 10.3% stake in Sterling & Wilson Renewable
- Reliance Industries in a communication to stock exchanges has said that its subsidiary Reliance New Energy (RNEL) has acquired an additional 10.37% stake in Sterling & Wilson Renewable Energy (SWREL) for ₹738 crore from its promoters.
- After the acquisition, RNEL holds 40.00% of the total paid-up equity share capital of SWREL.
- Reliance will invest $10 billion in sustainable energy initiatives over three years.
4. SBI partners NSE Academy to launch five online courses
- State Bank of India (SBI) through its Strategic Training Unit has partnered with NSE Academy to promote financial literacy as a necessary life skill.
- Learners can enrol for five inaugural MOOCs of SBI on the NSE Knowledge Hub platform as a part of this strategic association.
- NSE Academy is a wholly owned subsidiary of National Stock Exchange of India.
5. RBI keeps benchmark lending rate unchanged 10th time in a row at 4%
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) kept the benchmark interest rate unchanged at 4 per cent and decided to continue with its accommodative stance in the backdrop of elevated levels of inflation.
- This is the tenth time in a row that the Monetary Policy Committee headed by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has maintained the status quo.

- ReNew Power has commissioned Gujarat’s first wind-solar hybrid project at the Chlor-Alkali unit of Grasim Industries in Bharuch, Gujarat.
- The first phase of the hybrid project, with 17.6 MW commercial-scale wind-solar, is expected to generate about 80 million units of renewable energy every year, mitigating about 75,000 tonnes of carbon emission

- Group unveiled the world’s first liquefied natural gas-fuelled bulk carrier vessel in Singapore, one of five vessels that the mining giant will take delivery of in 2022 as part of efforts to curb supply chain emissions.
- The 299-meter (981ft) longTourmaline Newcastlemax ore carrier was built by Eastern Pacific Shipping in China and stopped off in Singapore to take on LNG.

- The Ministry of Culture, Government of India will organize a first of its kind, 2-Day Global Summit on ‘Reimagining Museums in India’, on 15-16 February 2022.

- Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), the world’s largest solar power developer and the renewable energy arm of the diversified Adani Group, has received approval for being a member of the GRI South Asia Charter on Sustainability Imperatives.
- AGEL had initiated this pursuit in response to a call from GRI by becoming a signatory to the GRI South Asia charter in April 2021.
