1. First ever water bird census in Telangana
- The Biodiversity Management Committee of Manikonda Municipality, in collaboration with the Telangana Biodiversity Board and Dhruvansh organisation, conducted the first ever water bird census in Telangana at seven lakes.
2. Freedom fighter, orator and eminent poet Sarojini Naidu’s 143rd birth anniversary
- India remembered freedom fighter, orator and eminent poet Sarojini Naidu on her 143rd birth anniversary on Feb 13.
- She was a proponent of civil rights, women’s emancipation and anti-imperialistic ideas.
- Sarojini Naidu was the second woman President of the Indian National Congress and first Indian woman to preside at the INC conference.
3. Indigenous Tejas MK-I Aircraft to participate in Singapore Air Show-2022
- The Air Show will be held from 15th to 18th of February.
- Singapore Air Show is a biennial event which provides a platform for the Global Aviation Industry to showcase their products.
- The Ministry of Defence in a statement said that IAF will be pitching the indigenous Tejas MK-I alongside participants from across the world.
4. Govt to appoint 3 independent directors on NaBFID board
- The government is in the process of appointing three independent directors on the board of newly-incorporated ₹20,000 crore National Bank.
- The appointment for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID).
- It is a move that will clear the decks for commencing of operation of the Development Finance Institution critical for infra financing.
5. Centre launches J&K’s first free telemedicine service in Kathua
- The Centre has launched a free telemedicine service in the ambulance, ‘Doctor on wheels’ in Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir.
- The ambulance is equipped with the latest lab technology and can connect patients with senior doctors in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Surat, and Ahmedabad.
6. Indian scientists develop a next-generation probiotic that provides hope for longevity and healthy aging
- A team of Indian Scientists has recently identified the next-generation probiotic bacterium Lactobacillus Plantarum JBC5 from a dairy product that showed great promise in promoting healthy aging.
- The team has also developed a yogurt using this probiotic bacterium which can be consumed to derive all these health benefits.

Social Justice & Empowerment Department launches ‘SMILE’ for the Welfare of Transgender community and the Beggars
- This umbrella scheme is designed to provide welfare measures to the Transgender community and the people engaged in the act of begging.
- Under this includes two sub-schemes –
- Central Sector Scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for Welfare of Transgender Persons.
- Central Sector Scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation of persons engaged in the act of Begging.
8. India and Australia sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tourism cooperation
- The MoU will facilitate Exchange of information and data related to tourism, Cooperation between tourism stakeholders, particularly hotels and tour operators, Cooperation and exchanges between training and education providers in tourism and hospitality, Investment in the tourism and hospitality sectors, Visits of tour operators and wholesalers, media and more.
9. SEBI revamps advisory committee on Investor Protection and Education Fund.
- The eight-member committee will now be chaired by Mahalingam, former whole time member of SEBI.
- Rejigging its committee, SEBI has listed Vijay Kumar Venkataraman, chief-trade services at farm and former MD and CEO of NCDEX; and Mrin Agarwal, founder of Finsafe India among the new inductees.
- The panel was earlier headed by Abraham Koshy, former professor of IIM-Ahmedabad.
10. e-RUPI voucher limit to be enhanced to ₹1 lakh
- RBI has proposed to increase the cap of e-RUPI vouchers issued by the Central government and State governments from ₹10,000 to ₹1,00,000 per voucher and permit such e-RUPI vouchers to be used more than once (until the amount of the voucher is completely redeemed).
11. Additional Solicitor General Rupinder Singh Suri passes away
- Senior advocate and Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Rupinder Singh Suri died.
- Suri was appointed the ASG in June 2020.
- Suri was designated as senior advocate in 2009 and also served as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Supreme Court Advocates on Record Association.
