1. N. Chandrasekaran reappointed chairman of Tata Sons for a second term of five years
- Natarajan Chandrasekaran has been reappointed as chairman of Tata Sons for a second term of five years, having the support and approval of the board of Tata Trusts and its chairman Ratan Tata.
- He joined the Tata Sons board in October 2016, was designated chairman in January 2017, and took official charge in February 2017.
2. Index of Industrial Production (IIP) for December 2021 released
- For the month of December 2021, the Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with base 2011-12 stands at 138.0.
- The Indices of Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for the month of December 2021 stand at 13, 138.8 and 162.5 respectively.
3. Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog & UNDP India launch Community Innovator Fellowship
- Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog in collaboration with UNDP, India launched the Community Innovator Fellowship (CIF) marking the “International Day of Women & Girls in Science”.
- This is a one-year-long intensive fellowship program which has been designed for an aspiring community innovator irrespective of their socio-economic background.
4. Max Healthcare Institute signs deal to acquire Eqova Healthcare
- Max Healthcare Institute has inked a deal to acquire Eqova Healthcare.
- Eqova Healthcare is a company with long-term exclusive rights to aid development and provide medical services to an upcoming 400-bed hospital.
- The hospital, which is owned by Nirogi Charitable and Medical Research Trust, will come up at Patparganj, Delhi.
5. Delhi High Court suspends TTFI, orders appointment of Administrator
- The Delhi High Court has suspended the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).
- The order by Justice Rekha Palli came after a three-member enquiry committee submitted its report.
- On November 17, The Court appointed the committee to look into TTFI’s handling of the match-fixing allegations made by table tennis player Manika Batra.
6. Chairman of Supreme Court panel on Char Dham project Ravi Chopra resigns
- The chairman of the Supreme Court-appointed high-powered committee on Char Dham all-weather road, Ravi Chopra, has resigned expressing disappointment over the apex court order limiting the panel’s jurisdiction to only two ‘non-defence’ stretches of the project.

- Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) celebrated its 17th Foundation Day programme on 11 Feb 2022.

8. Larsen & Toubro’s construction arm bags significant order in Bangladesh
- Larsen & Toubro Ltd, commonly known as L&T, is an Indian multinational conglomerate, which is counted among world’s top five construction companies.
- Now, this Indian MNC has secured an order, amidst stiff global competition, to construct hi-tech IT parks at 8 locations across Bangladesh.
- This project is L&T’s first order in Bangladesh for IT and office space construction.
9. India in global gold buying spree; RBI 2nd largest buyer of yellow metal
- Reserve Bank of India (RBI) emerged as the second largest buyer of yellow metal among the world’s Central Banks in 2021.
- The largest buyer, the Central Bank of Thailand, bought 90 metric tonnes of gold while RBI bought 77.5 metric tonnes taking its total gold reserve to 754.1 tonnes at the end of December 2021.
- India’s official gold reserves is ninth largest in the world.
10. India’s first biomass-based hydrogen plant coming up in Madhya Pradesh
- The country’s first commercial-scale biomass-based hydrogen plant is coming up in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.
- The plant will produce a tonne of hydrogen per day, from 30 tonnes of biomass feedstock.
- It will also produce biochar and methane.
- The plant is being put up by a joint venture of Watomo Energies Ltd and Biezel Green Energy with an investment of ₹24 cr.
11. India falls to 53rd rank in EIU’s Democracy Index
- India is ranked 46 on the global index with an overall score of 6.91.
- It has the lowest score of 5 on political culture and the highest score of 8.67 on electoral process and pluralism.
- It scores 6.18 on civil liberties, 7.22 on political participation,50 on functioning of government.
