1. B Govindarajan appointed as CEO of Royal Enfield
- Eicher Motors has appointed B Govindarajan as the Chief Executive Officer of Royal Enfield.
- He will also serve as the Wholetime Director of the Board of Eicher Motors Limited.
- Govindarajan played a key role in the development of the Himalayan, Continental GT 650 and Interceptor INT 650 and the recent J-platform based Meteor and Classic 350 models.
2. Elisabeth Borne appointed as new France Prime Minister following Jean Castex’s resignation
- Elisabeth Borne was appointed France’s new Prime Minister to become the second woman to hold the post in the country.
- Borne is the second woman to hold the position after Edith Cresson, who was Prime Minister in 1991-1992 under Socialist President Francois Mitterrand.
- She has served as Labor Minister in Macrons previous government since 2020.

3. Rajasthan’s Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary notified as India’s 52nd tiger reserve
- The newly notified tiger reserve in Rajasthan’s Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary includes the tiger habitat between Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in the northeast and Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve on the southern side and facilitates dispersal of tigers from Ranthambore Tiger Reserve.
- This is Rajasthan’s fourth tiger reserve after Ranthambore, Sariska and Mukundra.
4. Siemens India appoints SAP Labs India MD Sindhu Gangadharan to its board
- Siemens India has appointed Sindhu Gangadharan, senior vice-president and MD, SAP Labs India, and head, SAP User Enablement, to its board of directors as an independent director.
- Gangadharan also serves on the board of organisations like US-based Qualtrics, Titan Company and EverLoop by SAP.
- She became the first woman to lead SAP Labs India.
5. Cameroonian Activist, Cécile Ndjebet Wins Wangari Maathai Forest Champions Award
- A veteran Cameroonian activist, Cécile Ndjebet is the recipient of the 2022 Wangari Maathai Forest Champions Award by the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF), which is chaired by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
- Ndjebet is a co-founder of the African Women’s Network for Community Management of Forests, established in 2009.
6. Home Minister Flags Off Boat Ambulance to Serve Inaccessible Areas of Sunderbans
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was on a two-day visit to West Bengal, flagged off a boat ambulance and six floating border outposts at Hingalganj in North 24 Parganas district.
- In January, the BSF launched a boat ambulance service for the people of the erstwhile “cut-off” area in Malkangiri in Odisha.
- The 24X7 ambulance service facilitates emergency medical service.
7. Environmental scientist elected to US’ National Academy of Sciences
- Kamal Bawa, the chief of Bengaluru-based Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), has been elected to the US’ National Academy of Sciences.
- Dr Bawa is also an elected fellow of the Royal Society (London) and the American Philosophical Society.
8. Chhattisgarh becomes first state to restore old pension scheme
- Chhattisgarh has become the first state in the country to restore the old pension scheme in order to provide assured income to retired employees.
- The state government has sent a proposal to the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) for the withdrawal of Rs 17,000 crore accrued under the National Pension Scheme since November 2004.
9. SBI net profit rises 41% in Q4 to Rs 9,113.5 crore, misses estimate
- State Bank of India has reported a 41 percent year-on-year rise in net profit at Rs 9,113.5 crore for the quarter ended March 2022 (Q4FY22), which was below Street’s estimate of Rs 9,927.6 crore.
- The net profit growth was on the back of a 15.3 percent growth in net interest income which stood at Rs 31,198 crore.
10. SpiceJet, Axis Bank launch co-branded credit card
- SpiceJet has partnered with Axis Bank for launching co-branded credit card.
- The card is powered by Visa.
- It comes in two variants — SpiceJet Axis Bank Voyage and Voyage Black.
- The card is aimed at facilitating a superlative travel experience for flyers through SpiceClub, the first frequent flyer program by a low cost carrier in the country.
11. Gram Unnati appoints India’s former Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora as Chairman
- India’s 1st full-stack agricultural value chain services announced the appointment of Sunil Arora, former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India, as its board’s new Chairman (Non-Executive).
- He has served as Secretary to two key ministries – The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the then newly set up Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

13. 5000-year-old jewellery factory found in Haryana’s Indus Valley site Rakhi Garhi
- The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which has been working in Rakhi Garhi in Haryana for the last 32 years, made one of its biggest discoveries yet with the excavation of a 5000 year old jewellery making factory.
- Rakhi Garhi is a village and one of the oldest archaeological sites belonging to the Indus Valley Civilisation in Hisar district of Haryana.
