1. Babar Azam, Rachael Haynes crowned ICC Players of the Month for March 2022
- The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that Pakistan’s superstar skipper Babar Azam, and Australia’s run-machine Rachael Haynes have been named the ICC Men’s and Women’s Players of the Month for March 2022.
- He became the first player to win the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award on two occasions, after being crowned back in April 2021.
2. Vice President Naidu calls for holistic development of Panchayats to achieve Sustainable Development Goals
- Inaugurating National Stakeholders Conference on ‘Localization of Sustainable Development Goals’ organized by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu urged the Union Government and various States to facilitate the devolution of the 3Fs from Zilla Parishads to Panchayats.
3. First Khelo India National Ranking Women Archery tournament to be held in Jamshedpur
- The Sports Authority of India has approved Rs 75 lakh to host the Khelo India National Ranking Women Archery Tournament over six phases at Tata Archery Academy.
- Jamshedpur in Jharkhand is set to host the first phase of the tournament on April 12 and April 13.
4. Gujarat tops NITI Aayog’s State Energy and Climate Index Round 1
- Gujarat has topped NITI Aayog State Energy and Climate Index-(SECI) Round 1 among larger states. This index aims to rank states and union territories on six parameters — discoms performance, access affordability and reliability of energy, clean energy initiatives, energy efficiency, environmental sustainability and new initiatives.
- Gujarat was followed by Kerala and Punjab.
5. PM Narendra Modi to be honoured with first-ever Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be honoured with the first-ever Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award, instituted in the memory of the veteran singer who passed away in February this year.
- Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan informed that the award ceremony will be held on 24th of April at Mumbai’s Shanmukhanand Hall.
6. Tata AIA partners with CSC to boost insurance penetration in rural India.
- To deliver much-needed life insurance Protection cover to rural households, Tata AIA Life Insurance and Common Services Centers (CSC), under the Ministry of Electronics & IT, have partnered to engage its network of over 4 lakhs Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) at the last mile for distribution of life insurance plans.
7. Cabinet approves extension of Atal Innovation Mission till March 2023
- The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the continuation of Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), till March 2023.
- The mission has been set up under the NITI Aayog, in accordance with the finance minister’s declaration in the 2015 Budget speech.
- The AIM has focused on both infrastructure creation and institution building.
8. Bank of Maharashtra to divest entire 4% stake in ISARC
- Public sector lender Bank of Maharashtra will divest its entire stake of 4 per cent in India SME Asset Reconstruction Company for nearly Rs 4 crore.
- Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) has executed a share purchase agreement dated April 6, 2022 for sale of the entire equity stake of 4 per cent in India SME Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd (ISARC).
9. Ecuador becomes first country to give legal rights to wild animals
- Ecuador has made history by becoming the first country to recognise the legal rights of individual wild animals.
- The judgment was passed by the country’s highest court when it heard a case for Estrellita, a woolly monkey who was taken from the wild when she was only 1 month old and was raised as a pet but died within a month after it was shifted to the zoo.

10. Ministry of Information and Broadcasting constitutes AVGC promotion task force
- The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced that in pursuance of the announcement made in the Union Budget 2022-23, an Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) promotion task force has been constituted to promote the AVGC sector in the country under the aegis of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
11. Two separate SEBI panels to review ownership norms of MFs, trustees
- The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has set up two separate expert groups to examine the roles, eligibility criteria and functions of sponsors and trustees at asset management companies (AMCs).
- A sponsor is like a promoter who brings in the capital for setting up an AMC, while a trustee plays a supervisory role and is tasked with protecting investors interest.
12. AAI Airports providing platform to Self-Help Groups for promotion of local artisans and products through ‘AVSAR’ Scheme
- In the line with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to encourage the talent of women, artisans and craftsmen and provide them with the right opportunities, Airport Authority of India (AAI) has taken an initiative to allocate space to Self Help Groups (SHGs) at its airports for selling/showcasing the self-made products of their region.
13. ‘Tomb of Sand’ by Geetanjali Shree is FIRST Hindi fiction to be shortlisted for International Bookers Prize
- Author Geetanjali Shree’s novel ‘Tomb of Sand’ became the first Hindi language work of fiction to be shortlisted for the International Booker Prize.
- Shree’s book, translated into English by Daisy Rockwell and described by the judges as a “loud and irresistible novel”, will compete with five other titles from around the world.
