1. Secretary for health inaugurates 3rd National Conference on “ERMED Consortium: Digital Health Resources: A reality”
- National Medical Library’s Electronic Resources in Medicine (NML-ERMED) Consortium is the flagship electronic resources consortium by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) & Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, wherein access to 228 eJournals are being provided round the clock to 71 state and centrally funded Government Institutions including all AIIMS.
- As of 2022, a total of 19 AIIMS colleges are operational in India.
2. MoU signed between Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY)
- An MoU was signed between the Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for providing technical support to the Ministry of Ayush for digitalisation of the Ayush Sector under the Ayush Grid project for a period of 3 years.
- This MoU is continuation of the earlier MoU, which was signed in the year 2019.
- ‘The Ayush Grid project’ was initiated by the Ministry of Ayush in 2018.
- AYUSH is an acronym for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy.
3. India’s Foreign Trade Figures: July 2022
- For July 2022: Merchandise exports – USD 36.27 Billion, as compared to USD 35.51 Billion in July 2021, a positive growth of 2.14%.
- Merchandise imports- USD 66.27 Billion, which is an increase of 43.61% over imports of USD 46.15 Billion in July 2021.
- The merchandise trade deficit in July 2022 was estimated at USD 30 Billion as against USD 10.63 Billion in July 2021.
- India’s biggest export products by value are refined petroleum products.
4. To promote honey export, Government to organize series of events, in collaboration with state govts and farmers
- To harness the export potential of honey in line with the vision of a ‘sweet revolution’ through promotion of beekeeping and allied activities, the Government has planned to organize a series of events across the country in collaboration with state governments and farmers.
- APEDA facilitates honey producers in accessing export markets besides availing government assistance.
- Honey was the first sweet food tasted by ancient Indian inhabiting rock shelters & forests.
5. IAF signs MoU with Rashtriya Raksha University for academic collaboration
- The Indian Air Force (IAF) signed a MoU with Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) to enable the pursuit of academics by the IAF personnel in various contemporary subjects.
- It enables the pursuit of academics by the Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel in various contemporary subjects, besides promoting R&D in niche areas of mutual interest.

6. IMD, Government of Japan and UNDP launch a project to accelerate climate action in India
- India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Government of Japan, and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announced a new initiative to accelerate climate action in 10 states and Union Territories across the country.
- The initiative will support Nationally Determined Contribution (NDCs) to achieve net-zero emissions and ensure climate-resilient development.
- Japan has extended USD 5.16 million in climate grants to UNDP India for the project.

7. Amazon India, COHANDS to promote digital inclusion of over 50,000 artisans
- Amazon India has joined hands with the Council of Handicrafts Development Corporations (COHANDS) to encourage digital inclusion of over 50,000 artisans and weavers associated with over 100 craft clusters and specific interventions across India under the Amazon Karigar program.
- The collaboration will impact 55 artisanal clusters which are funded by MoMSME’s SFURTI.
- COHANDS is an apex body of 30 Central & State Govt. Handicrafts Development Corporations.
8. Major Dhyanchand Stadium to host Phase 1 of 1st Khelo India Women’s Hockey League U-16
- Following the success of the Khelo India Women’s Hockey League (U-21) held over three phases in New Delhi and Lucknow earlier this year, a similar league for U-16 girls is scheduled to start on August 16 at the Major Dhyanchand Stadium in the national capital.
- The Sports Authority of India has allocated a total of Rs 53.72 lakhs for 3 phases of the competition.

9. Rishabh Pant appointed as brand ambassador of Uttarakhand
- Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was appointed as the brand ambassador of Uttarakhand by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in a programme organised at Uttarakhand Sadan in New Delhi.
- CM Dhami said that honouring cricketer Rishabh Pant as Uttarakhand brand ambassador would inspire youth in the field of sports in the state.

10. Satish Kashinath Marathe, S Gurumurthy re-nominated on RBI central board
- Central Government has re-nominated Satish Kashinath Marathe and Swaminathan Gurumurthy as part-time, non-official Directors on the Central Board of RBI for a further period of four years with effect from August 11, 2022.
- RBI’s central board now consists of five official members and 10 non-official members.
11. RBI issues strict norms for digital lending to curb charging of exorbitant rates
- RBI mandated that digital loans must be credited directly in the bank accounts of borrowers and not through any third party, as it put in place strict norms to curb rising malpractice in digital lending space.
- RBI said digital lending entities and not the borrowers should pay fees or charges payable to Lending Service Providers (LSPs) in the credit intermediation process.
12. NIPAM achieves target of training 1 million students on Intellectual Property (IP) awareness
- National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM) has achieved the target of imparting Intellectual Property (IP) awareness and basic training to 1 million students on 31st July 2022, ahead of the deadline which was 15 August 2022.
13. One Year of announcement of Rice Fortification
- A total of 151 Districts (in 24 States) have already lifted fortified rice under Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) in Phase II of Rice Fortification Programme.
- Nearly 6.83 LMT have been distributed by the States/UTs under the phase which started from April 1, 2022.
- Under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) and Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition (PM POSHAN), nearly 7.36 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT) have been lifted by the States/UTs so far.
- Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is the regulatory/ licensing authority for food fortification.
