1. 107 Gallantry awards announced for Armed Forces and CAPF personnel
- President Droupadi Murmu has approved 107 Gallantry awards to Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel on the occasion of Independence Day 2022.
- These include three Kirti Chakra, 13 Shaurya Chakras, two Bar to Sena Medals (Gallantry), 81 Sena Medals (Gallantry), one Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry) and seven Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry).
- What is the Gallantry award?
- Gallantry Awards have been instituted by the Government of India to honour the acts of bravery and sacrifice of the officers/personnel of the Armed Forces, other lawfully constituted Forces and civilians.
2. Lupin revising product portfolio in US to overcome price erosion impact

4. Karnataka Bank launches new term deposit scheme as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’
- Karnataka Bank has launched a new term deposit ‘KBL Amrit Samriddhi’ to celebrate 75 years of Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav).
- The interest rate for this 75-week (525 days) term deposit scheme is 6.10 per cent per annum.
- With the new product, KBL Amrit Samriddhi, the bank extends the benefit of an increase in the interest rates to the customers.

6. The ‘Donyi Polo Airport’ is the name of Arunachal’s 3rd airport
- The Arunachal Pradesh government named the under-construction greenfield airport-the state’s third here in the state capital Itanagar as “Donyi Polo Airport”.
- The “Donyi Polo Airport” airport in Itanagar would be Arunachal Pradesh’s third airport after Pasighat and Tezu airports, and northeast India’s 16th airport.
- Donyi means Sun and Polo means Moon.

7. Blockchain based 5ire signs MoU with Goa Police to make it the first paperless police state in India
- Goa Police has announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with 5ire, a fifth generation blockchain network company, at its crime branch office in Ribandar to go digital.
- The MoU was signed by Nidhin Valsan, Indian Police Service (IPS), Superintendent of Police (SP) Crime, on behalf of Goa Police and Pratik Gauri, founder and CEO, 5ire.
8. CCI approves proposed combination involving amalgamation of HDFC Limited, HDFC Bank, HDFC Investments and HDFC Holdings
- The proposed combination envisages a two-step amalgamation process:
- Step 1: Amalgamation of HDFC Investments and HDFC Holdings into and with HDFC Limited, such that HDFC Limited will be the surviving entity post this step; and
- Step 2: Amalgamation of the amalgamated HDFC Limited into HDFC Bank, such that HDFC Bank will be the surviving entity post this step.
9. NMDC & FICCI to organise Conference on Indian Minerals & Metal Industry
- NMDC, Country’s largest Iron Ore producer, a CPSE under Ministry of Steel and FICCI will be organizing a conference on the Indian minerals and metals industry on the theme ‘Transition Towards 2030 & Vision 2047’ on 23rd and 24th August at New Delhi.
- The key objective of the event is to have deliberations on a roadmap for the minerals & metals sector to achieve the ‘Vision 2047’.

- Government managed CSC e-Governance Services India has announced its partnership with the International Organization for Migration-United Nations’ India Mission to establish Migrant Resource Centres (MRC) in Tamil Nadu.

- The government agency, CSC e-Governance Services, has signed a MoU in this regard.
12. On World Elephant Day, Centre notifies India’s 31st Elephant Reserve, which is 5th In Tamil Nadu
- Agasthyamalai Elephant Reserve has been notified as India’s 31st Elephant Reserve by the Union environment ministry.
- This is the fifth elephant reserve in Tamil Nadu.
- The Periyar-Agasthyamalai landscape is estimated to have 1,800 Asian elephants (Census 2010).
- Karnataka has the highest number of elephants in India.
13. IAF left for Malaysia to participate in bilateral exercise ‘Udarashakti’
- Indian Air Force and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) are set to participate in a bilateral exercise named ‘Udarashakti.’
- This is the first bilateral exercise being conducted between the two countries.
- Notably, the Indian Air Force is participating in the air exercise with Su-30 MKI and C-17 aircraft while the RMAF will be flying Su-30 MKM aircraft.
