- Every year, India celebrates Police Commemoration Day on October 21 to honour the police personnel who sacrificed their lives while discharging their duties.

2. ISSF World Championship: Ramita Jindal crowned world champion in 10 meter Air Rifle Women Junior event in Cairo
- India’s Ramita Jindal was crowned world champion in the 10-meter Air Rifle Women Junior event at the International Shooting Sport Federation, ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol in Cairo, Egypt.
- Tilottama Sen won a second medal for India at the event, a bronze, after she shot 261.0 in the ranking round to finish third.

3. Pradeep Singh Kharola appointed CMD, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO)

5. V-Mart acquires e-commerce startup LimeRoad for Rs 31 crore
- Fashion retailer V-Mart Retail (V-Mart) has acquired e-commerce platform LimeRoad for a lump sum cash of around Rs 31.12 crore.
- The Gurgaon-based startup LimeRoad was founded in 2012 by Suchi Mukherjee, Ankush Mehra and Prashant Malik.

6. Total balance in PM Jan Dhan accounts crosses ₹1.75-lakh crore mark
- As per the latest Government data, the total balance stood at ₹1,75,225 crore as on October 5, 2022, as the total number of beneficiaries touched 47 crore.
- Women beneficiaries own a larger chunk in the scheme at 26.16 crore accounts of which the bulk (31.42 crore accounts) are in rural and semi-urban areas.

- Reliance Jio became the largest landline service provider in the country for the first time, in August.
- With 7.35 million landline connections as on August 31, Reliance Jio beat state-owned telecom operator and hitherto market leader BSNL’s 7.13 million connections, according to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).
