1. TCS’ Krishnan Ramanujam appointed as Nasscom Chairperson for 2022-23

  • The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) announced that Krishnan Ramanujam, President, Enterprise Growth Group at Tata Consultancy Services, has been appointed as its Chairperson for 2022-23.
  • Ramanujam succeeds Rekha M. Menon, Chairperson and Senior Managing Director of Accenture in India, in this role.
  • Anant Maheshwari, President, Microsoft India, was appointed Vice-chairperson.
  • Debjani Ghosh, President of Nasscom.

2. Netflix, I&B Ministry partner to develop short videos highlighting role of women changemakers

  • Netflix India, in collaboration with the Information & Broadcasting Ministry, has released a series of short video series under an initiative called ‘Azadi Ki Amrit Kahaniya’, highlighting the role of women achievers.
  • As part of a broader partnership, the global OTT platform will also conduct workshops and masterclasses for skill development of Indian film-makers.

3. NHLML signs MoU with Himachal Pradesh for ropeway projects

  • State-owned National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) and the Himachal Pradesh government have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for seven ropeway projects in the state under the Parvatmala Yojna at a total cost of Rs. 3,232 crore.
  • The project will cover a total length of 57.1 km.

4. Covaxin, Corbevax, ZyCoV-D get emergency use nod by drug regulator

  • The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) recommended emergency use authorisation (EUA) for Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for children between 6 and 12 years.
  • The DCGI has also recommended EUA for Biological E’s Corbevax for children in the age group of 5 to 12 years and Zydus Cadila’s ZyCoV-D for those above 12 years.

5. Prasar Bharati signs MoU with Public Broadcaster of Argentina

  • India and Argentina are strategic partners that share cordial relations and developmental partnerships in the areas of political, economic, scientific and technological cooperation.
  • In a landmark tie-up, Prasar Bharati has signed an MoU with the Public Broadcaster of Argentina Radio Television Argentina (RTA) for collaboration in the field of broadcasting.

6. Sebi Rejigs Advisory Panel On Leveraging Regulatory, Technology Solutions

  • SEBI has reconstituted its advisory committee, which provides guidance on enhancing the regulator’s technological capabilities and on exploring appropriate technological solutions for early detection of market anomalies.
  • The Advisory Committee for Leveraging Regulatory and Technology Solutions (ALeRTS) will now be headed by Sunil Bajpai, former Principal Advisor of TRAI.

7. Wipro appoints Satya Easwaran as Country Head of India

  • Wipro has appointed Satya Easwaran as the Country Head for India.
  • Satya will be in charge of strengthening Wipro’s business in India across key industry sectors through strategic consulting, transformation and modernization engagements.
  • Easwaran has global work experience driving end-to-end business transformation programs for leading enterprises in different sectors.

8. India Creates Guinness Record for Simultaneous Waving of More than 78,000 National Flags

  • India has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for waving the maximum number of national flags simultaneously, the Ministry of Culture.
  • It said 78,220 tricolors were waved at the Veer Kunwar Singh Vijayotsav programme organised at Duler Ground in Jagdishpur in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah.

9. Asia’s biggest international food and hospitality fair – AAHAR 2022 begins in New Delhi

  • Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) in association with the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) is organizing Asia’s biggest international food and hospitality fair AAHAR-2022 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
  • APEDA was established by the Government of India under the APEDA Act passed by the Parliament in December, 1985.

10. Badminton Asia Championships 2022 begins in Manila

  • Badminton Asia Championships 2022, the biggest on the continent, is all set to kick off in Manila, Philippines.
  • Double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and young sensation Lakshya Sen will lead India’s challenge at the six-day event.
  • The focus will also be on London Olympics bronze medallist Saina Nehwal as she looks to claim her fourth medal at the Championships.

  • At 48 billion, India accounted for the largest number of worldwide real-time transactions in 2021, almost three times that of nearest challenger China ( 18 billion), and 6.5 times greater than the US, Canada, UK, France and Germany combined, according to a report by ACI Worldwide.
