- International Internet Day is celebrated every year on 29th October to celebrate the usage of the Internet for the first time.

- A student programmer from the University of California in Los Angeles, Charley Kline, who transmitted the first-ever electronic message in 1969.

2. President Droupadi Murmu presents Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to President’s Bodyguard
- President Droupadi Murmu presented the Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the President’s Bodyguard at a ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
- The President’s Bodyguard is celebrating 250 years of its raising which is coinciding with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
- The President’s Bodyguard is the oldest regiment in the Indian Army.

3. Tata and Airbus to make C-295MW transport aircraft for IAF in Vadodara
- India’s Tata group and Airbus will make the C-295 transport aircraft in the country, the government said, the first such production by a local private company amid a push for an expansion of defence manufacturing.
- It will be able to carry 5 to 10 tonnes of loads (aircrafts and other defence equipment) and will deliver 16 aircraft in fly away condition between September next year and August 2025, while the rest will be made by Tata group.

4. Indian Railways to observe a month long Mega Safety Drive from 28th October
- The Ministry of Railways has directed Zonal Railways to launch a month-long safety drive beginning on 28.10.2022 to remove any gaps in maintenance of fixed assets, locomotives and rolling stock maintenance and to strengthen safety in Indian Railways.
- During the drive, it will be ensured that extant procedures are being conformed and monitoring of Human Factors shall be done.
5. FM Nirmala Sitharaman attends 7th Annual Meeting of Board-of-Governors of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)

- Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, addressed the Chintan Shivir through video conferencing.
- The objectives of the two-day Chintan Shivir is to prepare an Action Plan for the implementation of “Vision 2047” and “Panch Pran” – announced by PM Modi on the Independence Day.

7. Foreign reinsurers can repatriate up to 20% of assigned capital: IRDAI
- Insurance sector regulator IRDAI has allowed foreign reinsurance branches, including Lloyd’s India, to repatriate up to 20% of the excess assigned capital to attract more players and allow free movement of capital.
- As per IRDAI norms, the registration of branch offices of foreign reinsurers other than Lloyd’s have ‘assigned capital’ and net owned funds (NOFs) which will be the amount of Rs. 500 crore as the capital.

8. Centre approves Terai Elephant Reserve in Uttar Pradesh
- Uttar Pradesh is all set to get a new elephant reserve soon, as the Union ministry of forest, environment and climate change (MoFECC) has given its nod to the Terai Elephant Reserve (TER), which will be spread in a 3,049 sq km area, including Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR) and Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR).
- It will be the second elephant reserve in UP and India’s 33rd.

11. Two more Indian beaches added to the list of world’s cleanest beaches, total tally reaches 12
- Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said that two more Indian beaches were added to the list of the cleanest beaches in the world and received the prestigious Blue Flag certification.
- The Minicoy Thundi Beach and Kadmat beach, both in Lakshadweep, have received the Blue Flag certification.
- This has taken India’s tally of Blue Beaches to 12.

- Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today virtually co-chaired the 7th ASEAN-India Ministerial Meeting on Agriculture and Forestry.
- The Agriculture Ministers from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam participated in the meeting.

14. Mata Amritanandamayi appointed as Chair of C20
- The Government of India has appointed Mata Amritanandamayi as the Chair of Civil 20 (C20), an official engagement group of the G20.
- The G20 members consist of 19 countries plus the European Union and C20 is its platform for civil-society organisations (CSOs) to bring forth non-government and non-business voices to the G20 leaders.

15. BSE India Launches Trading in Electronic Gold Receipts
- The Bombay Stock Exchange has launched Electronic Gold Receipt on its platform, a move that will help in efficient and transparent price discovery of the metal.
- It introduced two new products of 995 and 999 purity during the Muhurat trading on Diwali, and trading will be in multiples of 1 gram and deliveries in multiples of 10 gram and 100 gram.
