1. Dharmendra Pradhan releases a book “Birsa Munda – Janjatiya Nayak”

  • Union Education and Skill Development Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan released a book “Birsa Munda – Janjatiya Nayak” written by Prof. Alok Chakrawal, Vice Chancellor, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur.
  • This book is a comprehensive attempt to bring to the fore the struggle of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and the contribution of forest dwellers in the freedom movement.

2. Environment Minister launches ‘Prakriti’ green initiatives for effective plastic waste management

  • In another step toward eliminating single-use plastic, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav has launched “Prakriti”, a mascot to spread greater awareness about small changes that can be sustainably adopted in the lifestyle for a better environment.
  • India pledged to phase out Single Use Plastics (SUPs) by 2022.

3. NTPC inks pact with Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL) to blend Green Hydrogen in Piped Natural Gas

  • NTPC has signed an agreement with Gujarat Gas (GGL) for blending green hydrogen in Piped Natural Gas (PNG) network of the State government utility at the power producer’s Kawas facility.
  • Green hydrogen will be produced by using electricity from the existing 1 megawatt (MW) floating solar project of NTPC Kawas.

4. Ayush Ministry to celebrate Yoga Mahotsav at Red Fort on World Health Day

  • Ayush Ministry will celebrate Yoga Mahotsav on World Health Day at Red Fort in New Delhi.
  • Union Ministers will demonstrate Common Yoga Protocol on the 75th day of the countdown of the International Day of Yoga.
  • During the event, Members of the Parliament, Ambassadors of various countries, prominent Sports Celebrities and Yoga Gurus will participate.

5. Nepal, India sign four agreements as Deuba, Modi hail age-old ties

  • Nepal and India have signed four agreements and came up with the blueprint on cooperation on the power and energy sector.
  • The agreements were signed followed by the delegation level talks between Nepal and India led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi.

6. ITU’s Standing Council Standing Committee appoints India’s Aprajita Sharrma as Vice-Chairperson

  • The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has appointed Aprajita Sharrma, an Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts and Financial Services (IP&TAFS) officer of the 1995 batch as the vice-chairperson of the ITU’s Council Standing Committee on Administration and Management.
  • Headquarters of ITU : Geneva, Switzerland.
  • It was Formed : 17 May 1865.

7. Queen of Fire: Excerpt from Devika Rangachari’s novel about Rani Lakshmibai, the rebellion simmering in Jhansi

  • ‘Queen of Fire’ by award-winning children’s writer and historian Devika Rangachari is a gripping novel in which she sheds light on the brave queen and fearsome warrior Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi whose cry of revolt against the British Raj mobilized thousands of Indian soldiers to become a part of the 1057 National Uprising.

8. Ross Taylor bids adieu to international cricket

  • Ross Taylor played his farewell international match for New Zealand against the Netherlands in the third match of the three-match ODI series here at Seddon Park.
  • With 8607 runs in 236 ODIs, 7683 runs in 112 Tests and 1909 runs in 102 T20Is Taylor had a successful international career as a cricketer.

9. Grammys 2022: Falguni Shah wins first trophy, Ricky Kej repeats 2015 triumph

  • Two Indian musicians were among the winners at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, given out to musicians in Las Vegas.
  • Composer Ricky Kej won his second Grammy Award as he and Stewart Copeland won the award for Best New Age Album.
  • Indian-American singer-songwriter Falu won her maiden trophy for Best Children’s Music Album on the night.

10. Hungary PM Viktor Orban wins fourth term in office

  • In Hungary, nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban scored a fourth consecutive win in the General election.
  • Preliminary results showed Orban’s Fidesz party leading with 53.1% of votes versus 35% for Marki-Zay’s opposition alliance.
  • Fidesz was also winning 88 of 106 single-member constituencies.

  • Currency : Hungarian forint.

11. Festival of Gangaur being celebrated across Rajasthan

  • In Rajasthan, the festival of Gangaur was celebrated across the state with traditional reverence and gaiety.
  • Women did pray for happiness and prosperity by worshipping Isar-Gaur that is Lord Shiva and Parvati at homes and temples.
  • On this occasion, the royal procession of Gangaur took place after two years due to the COVID pandemic in the capital Jaipur.
  • The five-day Gangaur festival has started in Udaipur.

12. Australia win ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022

  • Australia won their seventh ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup with a 71-run victory over England in Christchurch.
  • Nat Sciver remained unbeaten on 148. Earlier, Alyssa Healy smashed a whirlwind 170 to power Australia to a mammoth 356 for five against England in the Women’s World Cup final.
