1. Wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Deepak Punia and Sakshi Malik clinch Gold medals at CWG 2022
- In the CWG, Bajrang Punia, Deepak Punia and Sakshi Malik clinched gold medals for India.
- In men’s freestyle wrestling, Bajrang Punia won gold by defeating Canadian Lachlan Mcneil 9-2 in 65kg category while Deepak Punia clinched the gold by defeating Pakistan’s Muhammad Inam 3-0 in 86kg category.
- Mohit Grewal won bronze by defeating Jamacian Aaron Johnson in 125kg category.
2. Health Budget of the country to be hiked from 1.9 percent to 2.5 percent of GDP
- The Union Health Minister has said that the government has set a target to increase the Health budget of the country to 2.5 percent of the GDP, which is currently at 1.9 percent.
- In 2014 the total health budget was to the tune of 33 thousand crore rupees which was increased continuously and now it has reached 83 thousand crore rupees in 2022-23.
3. India beat Bangladesh 5-2 to lift SAFF Under-20 football championship trophy
- India lifted the SAFF U-20 football championship trophy by defeating Bangladesh 5-2 goals in the final at Kalinga stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha last night.
- Four goals from Gurkirat Singh and a lone goal from Himanshu Jhangra ensured Indian Team a worthy comeback in the final match which had gone to extra-time.

4. Commerce Minister launches Digital version of One District-One Product gift catalogue
- Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has unveiled the digital version of the One District-One Product (ODOP) gift catalogue.
- The ODOP gift catalogue is a step towards realizing the potential of all districts in the country and will give global recognition to the country’s diverse indigenous products.
- ODOP aims to select, brand, and promote One Product from each District of India.
5. RBI decides to allow BBPS to process cross-border inward payments
- RBI said that BBPS is currently accessible only for the residents of India.
- To facilitate the Non-Resident Indians – NRIs undertake utility, education and other bill payments on behalf of their families in India, it is proposed to enable BBPS to accept cross-border inward payments.

6. ISRO to send Small Satellite Launch Vehicle from Sriharikota
- ISRO will send a small satellite launch vehicle from Sriharikota. It is a three-stage vehicle with all solid propulsion stages.
- The mission is to launch the Earth Observation Satellite, EOS-02, and a co-passenger satellite, ‘Azaadi SAT’, into low earth orbit.
- The ‘Azaadi SAT’ is designed by 750 girl students of government schools in rural areas from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
7. Ministry of Women and Child Development issues Mission Vatsalya Scheme
- Mission Vatsalya Scheme is a roadmap to achieve development and child protection priorities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- It lays emphasis on child rights, advocacy and awareness along with strengthening of the juvenile justice care and protection system with the motto to ‘leave no child behind’.
8. PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme
- The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing a centrally sponsored PMFME Scheme for providing financial, technical and business support for setting up / upgradation of micro food processing enterprises in the country.
- The scheme is operational for a period of five years from 2020-21 to 2024-25 with an outlay of Rs. 10,000 Crore.
9. Monetary Policy Statement, 2022-23 Resolution of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC): August 3-5, 2022
- Increase the policy repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility (LAF) by 50 basis points to 5.40 per cent with immediate effect.
- Consequently, the standing deposit facility (SDF) rate stands adjusted to 5.15 per cent and the marginal standing facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate to 5.65 per cent.
- GDP growth forecast retained at 7.2%.
- The next meeting of the MPC is scheduled during September 28-30, 2022.
10. Russia becomes India’s third-largest coal supplier in July
- Russia became India’s third-largest coal supplier in July, with imports rising by over a fifth compared with June to a record 2.06 million tonnes, data from Indian consultancy Coalmint showed.
- Russia has historically been the sixth-largest supplier of coal to India, behind Indonesia, South Africa, Australia, and the United States, with Mozambique and Colombia.

12. Cabinet approves India’s Updated Nationally Determined Contribution to be communicated to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
- India submitted its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to UNFCCC on October 2, 2015.
- The 2015 NDC comprised eight goals; three of these have quantitative targets upto 2030 namely, cumulative electric power installed capacity from non-fossil sources to reach 40%; reduce the emissions intensity of GDP by 33 to 35 percent compared to 2005.
13. CJI NV Ramana Recommends Justice UU Lalit as his successor
- Chief Justice of India N V Ramana has written to the Union Government recommending the name of Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, the 2nd senior judge of the Supreme Court, as the next Chief Justice of India (CJI).
- If appointed, Justice Lalit will become the 2nd CJI who was directly elevated to the apex court Bench from the Bar after Justice S M Sikri, who became the 13th CJI in January 1971.
- Uday Umesh Lalit will be the 49th Chief Justice of India.
14. ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting to discuss key challenges at Phnom Penh in Cambodia
- External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar participated in the ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting at Phnom Penh in Cambodia.
- He said, there was strong convergence on Indo-Pacific, United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea connectivity, COVID-19, terrorism, cyber security, Ukraine and Myanmar.
