1. Indian team wins silver in men’s fours lawn bowls at Commonwealth Games 2022
- India bagged its second medal in Lawn Bowls competition at the Commonwealth Games 2022 after the men’s fours team, comprising Sunil Bahadur (lead), Navneet Singh (second), Chandan Kumar Singh (third) and Dinesh Kumar (skip), clinched the silver medal in Birmingham.
- The Indian team lost to Northern Ireland in the finals and bagged second place.
2. Centre to hold exhibitions on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day
- The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all Universities and Colleges to observe August 14 as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.
- They have been asked to organize programmes and seminars to commemorate the sufferings and sacrifices of millions of Indians during the partition in 1947.

3. Indian athletes Avinash Sable and Priyanka Goswami clinch silver medals in their respective events at CWG 22
- In the 3000 meter Steeplechase run, Avinash Sable won silver, clocking a new National Record of 8 min 11 point two seconds.

4. IIT Madras collaborates with National Institute of Siddha

- The Uttar Pradesh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Deloitte India, appointing it as a consultant for achieving the target of lifting the state’s economy to USD 1 trillion.

6. Africa Protected Areas Congress (APAC)
- The Africa Protected Areas Congress (APAC) took place in Kigali, Rwanda.
- It was the first time the protected areas congress of IUCN was organised in Africa.
- IUCN NL organised several sessions with local partners, among which is a workshop on the increased threats caused by mining of minerals needed for the energy transition.

- To position Africa’s protected and conserved areas within the broader goals of economic development and community well-being.

7. SEBI constitutes 15-member committee to attract foreign investment
- The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has constituted an expert group of Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) to boost overseas flows into the country.
- The FPI Advisory Committee (FAC) will be chaired by former Chief Economic Adviser KV Subramanian and consists of 14 other members representing foreign banks, stock exchanges, depositories and RBI.

9. Partnership between ICRISAT and ICAR for Water Management
- The ICAR-ICRISAT collaborative work plan (2019-2023) includes three research projects. Major focus of one of these projects is the genetic improvement of grain legumes (Gram, Arhar and Groundnut) and dryland cereals (Jowar, Bajra and Ragi) for enhancing their productivity potential, adaptation and quality traits.

- Union Minister Goyal emphasized on a ‘Whole of Govt’ approach to boost exports.
- The Minister said this would require exporters, EPCs, Govt Agencies & Indian Missions abroad to work together.

11. MOU between Indian Navy and Space applications centre (ISRO)
- Indian Navy signed a MoU with the Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Ahmedabad on data sharing and cooperation on Satellite based Naval Applications in Oceanology and Meteorology.

12. Convergence of leprosy screening under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK)
- The Government is implementing the National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) with the goal of making India leprosy free.
- NLEP is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme under the umbrella of National Health Mission (NHM).
- This programme is implemented in all the States/UTs.
- The major focus of the Programme is to detect the cases of leprosy at an early stage and to provide complete treatment, free of cost, in order to prevent the occurrence of disability.
13. PM Modi assures India’s full support to the plans and projects for the development in Philippines
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his victory in the presidential election.
