What is ‘Partners in the Blue Pacific’(PBP)?
The PBP is a five-nation (USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the United Kingdom) “informal mechanism” to support Pacific islands and to boost diplomatic, economic ties in the region. Because in April China signed a security pact with Solomon Islands and wanted to control crucial shipping lanes criss-crossing the region.
