1. Former Oil Secretary Tarun Kapoor to be PNGRB head

• Tarun Kapoor, who superannuated as secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on November 30, 2021, was selected to be chairman of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).
• His candidature will now go to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet for ratification and once approved, he would take over.

2. Naval Investiture Ceremony- 2021 Conducted in New Delhi

3. Blue Economy is the sixth dimension of Government of India’s Vision of New India by 2030: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh

• The minister in Parliament said that the Government of India’s Vision of New India by 2030 enunciated in February 2019 highlighted the Blue Economy as the sixth dimension of its vision.
• 150 Cr has been provisioned during 2021-22 under Deep Ocean Mission.

5. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories inks agreement to acquire Nimbus Health GmbH

• Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has inked a pact to acquire Germany-based Nimbus Health GmbH.
• The acquisition will allow Dr Reddy’s to build on Nimbus Health’s strengths and introduce medical cannabis-based medicines as a promising treatment option for patients.
• Nimbus will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dr Reddy’s.

6. Services PMI falls to six-month low in January 2022

• India’s services sector activity moderated to a six-month low in January 2022, amid imposition of restrictions across the country due to the fast spread of the Omicron variant as well as inflationary pressures.
• Data released by the analytics firm IHS Markit showed the purchasing managers’ index (PMI) for services fell to 5 in January 2022 from 55.5 in December 2021.

7. Zydus Cadila starts supply of Covid-19 vaccine ZyCoV-D to govt

• Zydus Cadila said it has commenced supplies of its Covid-19 vaccine ZyCoV-D to the central government.

9. Bharti Airtel to acquire 25% stake in technology startup Lavelle Networks

• Bharti Airtel to acquire 25% equity stake in Bengaluru-based technology startup, Lavelle Networks, which specialises in Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN)
• As part of its NaaS [Network as a service] portfolio, Airtel will offer software defined connectivity solutions from Lavelle Networks and co-create a host of innovations as part of its NaaS platform.

10. SEBI notifies KRA rules; mandates audit trails of client’s KYC records

• To enhance the role of KYC Registration Agencies (KRAs), SEBI has notified new norms to make them responsible to carry out independent validation of the KYC records uploaded onto their system by the Registered Intermediary (RI).

11. Dubai to launch world’s first hydrogen-powered flying boat

• Swiss startup THE JET ZeroEmission has signed an agreement with UAE-based Zenith Marine Services and US-based DWYN to manufacture and operate ‘The Jet’ in Dubai.
• THE JET’ features cutting-edge characteristics and technologies, making it capable of flying in silence over the waters at a cruising speed of 40 knots.
