1. GST collections in Feb stand at ₹1.3L cr

• Goods and services tax collections dipped marginally to Rs 1.3 lakh crore during February, compared to Rs 1.4 lakh crore in the previous month.
• This was also the first time in nearly five years that cess collected from soft drinks, coal, tobacco, and automobiles and automobiles crossed the Rs 10,000 mark in a month.

2. UPI transactions value dips to Rs 8.27 lakh crore in February

• India’s cashless retail transactions on UPI platform were worth Rs 8.27 lakh crore in February, slightly lower than the amount recorded in the previous month, data from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
• In the preceding month, NETC FASTag toll collections were valued at Rs 3,603.71 crore by way of 23.10 crore (231.01 million) transactions.
• There were a total of 452 crore (4.52 billion) transactions in February 2022.

3. Air Marshal S Prabhakaran assume charge as IAF’s Western Air Command

• Air Marshal Sreekumar Prabhakaran assumed command of the Indian Air Force’s Western Command headquartered in Delhi.
• The Air Officer is a recipient of the Vayu Sena Medal and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.
• Air Marshal S. Prabhakaran succeeds Air Marshal Amit Dev who superannuated on 28 Feb 22 after more than 39 years of distinguished service in IAF.

4. T S Ramakrishnan appointed as new MD and CEO of LIC Mutual Fund

• LIC Mutual Fund announced the appointment of T S Ramakrishnan as its Managing Director & CEO, effective March 1, 2022.
• Ramakrishnan, as the MD and CEO, LIC Mutual Fund Asset Management, will succeed Dinesh Pangtey, its former Wholetime Director and CEO.

5. Christian Schenk to be the new Chairman of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL)

• Christian Schenk, Board Member for Finance and IT, Skoda Auto, will be the new Chairman of SAVWIPL.
• Piyush Arora joins the Board as Managing Director of SAVWIPL and Christian Cahn von Seelen will assume an Executive position on the Board of SAVWIPL as Executive Director – Sales & Marketing.

• CEO of Skoda Auto : Thomas Schäfer.

6. Saurabh Chaudhary clinches India’s first gold at ISSF World Cup in Cairo

• Saurabh Chaudhary clinched India’s first gold medal at the ongoing International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Cairo, Egypt.
• The 19-year-old Indian defeated Michael Schwald of Germany 16-6 in the gold medal match of the Men’s 10m Air Pistol event.
• Russian Artem Chernousov grabbed a bronze medal.

7. 46th Civil Accounts Day to be celebrated on 2nd March 2022

• The 46th Civil Accounts Day will be celebrated on 2nd March 2022 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi.
• Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman will be the Chief Guest.
• The Finance Minister will launch a major e-governance initiative – the Electronic Bill (e-Bill) processing system as part of ease of doing business & Digital India.

8. BEE observes its 20th foundation day with the National Innovation Conclave on Low Carbon Technologies

• The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), commemorated its 20th Foundation Day by organising the National Innovation Conclave on Low Carbon Technologies.
• This conclave provided a platform to present the innovations showing benefits of energy savings and greenhouse gas emission reduction potential when deployed at a large scale in industrial and commercial sectors.

9. National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Celebrates its 17th Foundation Day

• The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) today celebrated its 17th Foundation Day at 15th August Ground at Red Fort, New Delhi.
• The Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smt.
• Smriti Zubin Irani was the chief guest at the event which was attended by the Chairperson of NCPCR, Shri Priyank Kanoongo, Secretary, WCD, Shri Indevar Pandey.

10. CCI organising 7th National Conference on Economics of Competition Law to be held on March 4, 2022 in Virtual Mode

• The Competition Commission of India (CCI) will hold the 7th National Conference on Economics of Competition Law on Friday, March 4, 2022 in Virtual Mode.
• CCI has been organising the Conference every year since 2016.
• The Conference is an endeavour to develop and sustain interest in the Economics of Competition Law and create a critical mass of antitrust economists.

11. Sh. Sanjay Bhattacharyya concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of India to the Principality of Liechtenstein

• Shri Sanjay Bhattacharyya presently Ambassador of India to Switzerland, has been concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of India to the Principality of Liechtenstein, with residence in Berne.
• Liechtenstein is a western European principality located between Switzerland and Austria, its capital is Vaduz.

12. Rafael Nadal Wins Mexican Open, Claims Third Title in 2022

• Radal Nadal, 35, beat Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-4 to win the Mexican Open and take his career-best start to the season to 15-0, while claiming his 91st ATP title.
• The Mexican Open is an ATP 500 level tournament played on hard courts, and this year 4 of the top 5 players in the world started in the draw : Daniil Medvedev (2), Alexander Zverev (3), Stefanos Tsitsipas (4) & Nadal (5).

13. From April 1, GST e-invoice is mandatory for businesses with ₹20 crore turnover

• The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Custom (CBIC) has lowered the threshold for mandatory issuance of e- invoice (electronic invoice) under Goods & Services Tax (GST) to ₹20 crore from the earlier prescribed limit of ₹50 crore.
• It means businesses with turnover of ₹20 crore or more will have to issue e-invoice from April, 2022.

14. India’s Sadia Tariq wins gold medal in Moscow Wushu Stars Championship

• India’s Sadia Tariq came up with a brilliant performance to win the gold medal in the Moscow Wushu Stars Championship which is being held in the Russian capital from February 22 to 28.
• Sadia Tariq, who hails from Srinagar, is a two-time gold medalist in the Junior National Wushu championship.

15. India’s stock exchanges starts T+1 Stock Settlement

• On July 9, 1997, about 25 years ago, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) implemented the T+5 stock settlement mechanism.
• From February 25, 2022, India became only the second country after China to move to the T+1 stock settlement mechanism in a phased manner.
