1. PM Modi to virtually inaugurate Biplobi Bharat Gallery in Kolkata
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Biplobi Bharat Gallery at Victoria Memorial Hall, Kolkata through video conferencing.
- The Gallery displays the contribution of the Revolutionaries in the freedom struggle and their armed resistance to British colonial rule.
2. Fitch cuts India growth forecast for 2022-23 to 8.5% from 10.3%
- Fitch Ratings downgraded its 2022-23 growth forecast for India from 10.3% to 8.5% citing sharply higher energy prices which it believes will spur inflation beyond 7% as oil companies eventually pass on price hikes to retail consumers.
- Global inflation is back with a vengeance after an absence of at least two decades.
3. Ministry of Civil Aviation & FICCI to jointly organise ‘WINGS INDIA 2022’ from 24th to 27th March in Hyderabad
- The Ministry of Civil Aviation and FICCI will jointly organise Asia’s largest event on Civil Aviation – WINGS INDIA 2022 – from 24th to 27th of this month at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad.
- Theme of the event is “India@75: New Horizon for Aviation Industry.”
- Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will be formally inaugurating the event on 25th March.
- FICCI = Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry.
4. Bangladesh most polluted country of the World
- Bangladesh was the most polluted country in the world in 2021,says the World Air Quality Report prepared by the Swiss-based air quality technology company IQAir in its latest report.
- In terms of particulate matter in the air,Bangladesh recorded an average PM2.5 level of 76.9 micrograms per cubic metre in 2021 against the WHO recommended maximum 5 micrograms per cubic metre.
5. BJP’s S Phangnon Konyak to become Nagaland’s first woman Rajya Sabha MP
- In Nagaland, BJP’s nominee S Phangnon Konyak is set to become the first woman to be elected as Member of Parliament for the state’s lone Rajya Sabha seat.
- Konyak, 44 years old is the incumbent Mahila Morcha President Nagaland unit, hailing from Mon district.
- Creating history, Konyak becomes the second woman after Rana M Shazia to enter any Parliament House.
- It was in 1977 when Shaiza was elected to the Lok Sabha from Nagaland.
6. 3rd edition of India-Uzbekistan joint military exercise begins in Yangiarik
- The 3rd edition of joint training exercise between Indian and Uzbekistan armies, EX-DUSTLIK is being conducted at Yangiarik, Uzbekistan from today to 31st March 2022.
- The last edition of DUSTLIK was conducted in Ranikhet, Uttarakhand in March last year.
- The joint exercise would focus on counter terrorism operations in semi-urban terrain under a United Nations Mandate.
7. India ranks 51st in global list of annual rise in housing prices
- India ranks 51st in annual appreciation in housing prices with a 2.% rise in rates during the Oct-Dec quarter of the last year, according to property consultant Knight Frank.
- In its latest research report titled ‘Global House Price Index – Q4 2021’, Knight Frank said that India has climbed up 5 spots to the 51st rank in Q4 of 2021 against the 56th rank in Q4 of 2020.
8. Exercise LAMITIYE 2022: India, Seychelles to kick-start 10-day military exercise from March 22
- An Indian Army contingent arrived in Seychelles for the ninth edition of the Joint Military Exercise Lamitiye 2022 between the Indian Army and Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF).
- The exercise is being conducted at the Seychelles Defence Academy (SDA) from March 22 to 31.
9. PhonePe acquires freelance entrepreneur network GigIndia to strengthen enterprise offerings
- Through the acquisition, PhonePe will integrate with itself the 1.5 million entrepreneurs, and over 100 enterprises as customers, besides the company’s employees.
- PhonePe will leverage GigIndia’s network of freelance microentrepreneurs to help corporates and enterprises acquire more customers and scale up their distribution channels.
10. Venezuela’s Yulimar Rojas Sets Triple Jump World Record
- Venezuela’s Yulimar Rojas bettered her own women’s triple jump world record with a leap of 15.74 metres to win gold at the World Indoor Championships.
- The Olympic champion beat her previous outright best of 15.67 metres set at the Tokyo Games last year, as well as her indoor record of 15.43 metres, set in 2020.
11. TCS appoints Rajesh Gopinathan as CEO; NG Subramaniam as COO
- Tata Consultancy Services, a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions firm announced that Rajesh Gopinathan has been appointed as chief executive officer and managing director.
- Gopinathan takes over from N. Chandrasekaran who has been appointed as the Chairman of Tata Sons, effective February 21, 2017.
12. The Karnataka government created the Dishaank app to make it easier to access land records.
- The Survey Settlement and Land Records (SSLR) unit of Karnataka’s revenue department is making original land records more accessible through an app called Dishaank.
- The Dishaank app was created as part of the Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Center’s Geographical Information System (GIS) programme (KSRSAC).
13. NATO military exercises ‘Cold Response 2022’ kick off in Norway with 30,000 troops
- Major military exercises involving 30,000 NATO troops and partner countries have kicked off in Norway as tensions escalate between the West and Russia over the Ukraine war.
- Organised every two years, the naval, air and ground drills are held over vast swaths of Norway, including above the Arctic Circle.
