1. Maiden edition of Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) Maritime Exercise held
- The premier forum Indian Ocean Naval Symposium held its maiden Maritime Exercise 2022 (IMEX-22) at Goa & in Arabian Sea from 26 – 30 Mar 22 which witnessed participation of 16 out of the 25 member nations of IONS which included Iran.
- The participation included warships, Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft & helicopters from the Navies of Bangladesh, France, India & Iran.
2. Manipur government inks Mou with Samsung to start Sports Digital Experience Centre
- Manipur government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Samsung Data System India Pvt. Ltd. and Abhitech IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd. for setting up a world class “Sports Digital Experience Centre” as a part of Manipur Olympian Park and at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex at the CM Secretariat
3. Cabinet Clears Rs 6,062 Crore World Bank-Assisted Programme For MSMEs
- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by PM Modi, approved the Rs 6,062.45 crore or $808 million ‘Raising and Accelerating MSM Performance’ for the micro, small & medium enterprises.
- Of the total outlay under the programme, Rs 3,750 crore ($500 million) will come from World Bank loan, and the remaining Rs 2,312.45 crore will be funded by the central government.
4. Maharashtra launches scheme to offer personal loans for prisoners
- The Maharashtra government has launched a scheme to provide personal loans for prisoners with the aim to improve the living standard of the families of the inmates.
- The Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank will give loans under the scheme up to Rs 50,000 at an interest rate of 7 per cent.
- The scheme will be implemented on a pilot basis at Yerawada Central Jail, Pune.
5. DMRC inaugurates first interchange station at Punjabi Bagh
- Mangu Singh, MD/DMRC, inaugurated a new interchange station at Punjabi Bagh which will provide interconnectivity between the green and pink lines of the Delhi Metro.
- Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has built such a station that connects two operational corridors for the first time.
6. Himanta Biswa Sarma Re-elected As President Of Badminton Association Of India
- Incumbent Himanta Biswa Sarma was re-elected unopposed as the president of Badminton Association of India (BAI) for a second term of four years — 2022 to 2026 — during its General Body Meeting in Guwahati.
- Sarma, who is also the current Chief Minister of Assam, was elected as BAI chief for the first time in 2017.
7. Indian team clinches SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship title
- India lost 0-1 to Bangladesh but still emerged champion of the SAFF U-18 Women’s Championships on account of a better goal difference.
- India enjoyed a better goal difference of +11 in comparison to +3 of Bangladesh.
- The valuable player of the tournament and the highest goal scorer of the tournament was Lynda Kom, who scored five goals in the tournament.
8. Army chief presents President’s Colours to two battalions of Dogra regiment
- Army Chief Gen MM Naravane has presented the ‘President’s Colours’ to two battalions of the Dogra Regiment at a ceremony in Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh.
- The battalions that received the prestigious ‘President’s Colours’ are 20 DOGRA and 21 DOGRA.
- The Colour Presentation Parade was also witnessed by former Army Chief Gen NC Vij (retd).
9. NATO extends chief Stoltenberg’s term for a year due to Russia’s war
- NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg will remain in his role for an extra year to help steer the 30-nation military organization through the security crisis sparked by Russia’s war on Ukraine.
- The former Norwegian prime minister was named to NATO’s top civilian post in October 2014.
- It’s the second time that his term of office has been extended.
10. Mahesh Verma appointed NABH chairman
- Mahesh Verma has been appointed the new chairman of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare providers (NABH).
- NABH, a constituent Board of Quality Council of India, operates accreditation, certification and empanelment programmes for healthcare organisations.
- Verma is a recipient of Padma Shri as well as Dr. B. C. Roy award.
- He is the Vice Chancellor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
11. Democratic Republic of Congo set to join East African Community
- The Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC is all set to be admitted as the seventh member of the East African Community(EAC).
- Democratic Republic of Congo comes into the bloc with a huge market of 90 million people and the potential to contribute to an expanded market and investment opportunities.
12. Konkan Railway accomplishes ‘Mission 100% Electrification
- Indian Railways is on a mission mode to electrify its entire Broad Gauge network to provide environment friendly, green & clean mode of transport to its people under the ‘Mission 100% Electrification – Moving towards net Zero Carbon Emission’ plan.
- The foundation stone for the Electrification of the entire 741 kms route work was laid in November 2015.
- The total cost of the project is ₹1287 crore.
13. Axis Bank, HDFC Bank to acquire up to 15% stake each in India Debt Resolution Co
- Private sector lenders Axis Bank and HDFC Bank have signed agreements to acquire up to 15 per cent stake each in India Debt Resolution Company Limited (IDRCL) for a total cash consideration of Rs 7.5 crore each.
- In September last year, public sector banks had created IDRCL as a step-down asset management company.

15. ‘Lakshya Zero Dumpsite’: Government of India approves ₹178.6 crore Legacy Waste Remediation Proposal of Telangana
- Under the vision of Swachh Bharat Mission, India has pledged to achieve ‘Lakshya Zero Dumpsites’ within the mission period.
- The remediation of legacy waste will facilitate the recovery of valuable land across the country, this will also take the nation closer to its dream of ‘Garbage-free cities’, which will further provide a healthier future to the residents.
- The total project approval is worth ₹178.6 crores.
