1. Andaman and Nicobar Islands – first to be ‘Covid-free’
- The Andaman and Nicobar Islands has become the first state or Union territory in India to be officially rid of the Covid-19 infection, at least for now, with active cases falling to zero in the islands.
- The UT had reported a total of 4,932 cases and 62 deaths from the virus.
2. J&K : 9th-century sculpture of Lord Vishnu recovered from Jehlum river in Pulwama
- In the Kashmir Valley, an ancient sculpture of Lord Vishnu dating back to 9th Century was recovered from river Jehlum in Kakapora area of the Pulwama district.
- Some labourers while extracting sand in river Jehleum in Lelhara Kakapora area of Pulwama district, found an ancient sculpture from the river.
3. FIFA launches “Al Rihla”, the official match ball of 2022 World Cup Qatar
- International Football Association FIFA has introduced the official match ball for the upcoming Qatar World Cup 2022 starting from 21st November.
- The name of the 2022 world cup match ball is “Al Rihla”.
- Adidas is the manufacturer of this year’s world cup ball as the brand is associated with FIFA as a core partner.
4. Philippines, US Kick Off Large-Scale Balikatan Military Exercise
- The Philippines and the United States kicked off one of their largest-ever joint exercises with officials saying they hoped it would convey a message of strong bilateral military ties in the face of maritime challenges from China.
- Philippine Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said the exercises are called Balikatan, which means “shoulder-to-shoulder” in Tagalog.
- Tagalog is an Austronesian language spoken as a first language by the Philippines.
5. Nehru Museum to be renamed as PM Museum to commemorate the work done by all the former PMs of India
- The Central government decided to change the name of the Nehru Museum in New Delhi.
- The new name given to it is the PM Museum.
- This has been done to recollect and save the memories of the 14 former Prime Ministers of India.
- Inauguration will be done on 14 April, Ambedkar Jayanti by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
6. Exercise Suraksha Kavach 2- Joint Security Exercise by Indian Army and Maharashtra Police
- Agnibaaz Division organized a joint exercise between Indian Army and Maharashtra Police at Lullanagar, Pune.
- The joint exercise was held at Lullanagar in Pune & saw participation of Counter Terrorism Task Force (CTTF) of the Indian Army, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra Police alongwith Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs), dog squads & bomb disposal teams of both agencies.
7. Offshore security exercise ‘Prasthan’ conducted by Western Naval Command
- An offshore security exercise, ‘Prasthan’ was conducted in the Offshore Development Area (ODA) off Mumbai, under the aegis of Headquarters, Western Naval Command.
- Conducted every six months, this exercise is an important element of ensuring offshore security and aims to integrate efforts of all maritime stakeholders involved in offshore defence.

- Virat Kohli has emerged as the most valued celebrity in India for the fifth year in a row, topping the Duff & Phelps Celebrity Brand Valuation Report 2021 despite seeing a dip in his brand value to $185.7 million last year from a high of $237.7 million in 2020.
9. India, Australia to collaborate in lithium and cobalt identification projects
- India and Australia have agreed to jointly undertake due diligence of greenfield and brownfield Lithium and Cobalt mineral assets that hold critical and strategic interest for both countries.
- Both India and Australia have committed an initial investment of $ 6 Million for the joint due diligence process in the 50:50 ratio of participating interest.

- HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company, a leading private general insurer and a digital-first company, leads the way in customer loyalty with the launch of the VAULT program, an industry-first digital customer engagement and rewards program.
- The Company has taken advantage of the Regulatory Sandbox by IRDA, in the form of VAULT, an experiment to test a new idea.
11. ICRA lowers FY23 GDP forecast to 7.2%
- Ratings agency Icra sharply lowered India’s economic growth forecast for the financial year 2022-23 to 7.2% from 8% estimated earlier as rising fuel and commodity prices due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict are expected to impact domestic demand.
- It has also taken into account the downside risks arising from fresh lockdown in parts of China led by a surge in covid-19 cases.
12. Central Bank of India partners Kwik.ID to digitize customer onboarding
- Central Bank of India has selected Kwik.ID to implement digital KYC, video KYC and eKYC for its network across India with an aim to bring better onboarding and digitisation practices.
- This partnership will support the bank in driving its digital transformation agenda and supporting digital finance initiatives championed by the Government of India.
