2. April 6-8, The first bi-monthly monetary policy of 2022-23, RBI keeps rates unchanged
- The Monetary Policy Committee raised the inflation forecast for the fiscal year to 5.7% percent, from 5.5 percent citing rising commodity prices.
- Economic growth forecast has been cut to 7.2 percent, from 7.8 percent as supply disruptions lessen output and high prices destroy demand.
- The FY23 GDP projection has assumed crude oil prices at $100 per barrel.
3. RBI imposes Rs 5,000 withdrawal cap on Shushruti Souharda Sahakara Bank
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed restrictions on Shushruti Souharda Sahakara Bank Niyamita, Bangalore.
- Restrictions include granting or renewing any loans and advances or taking deposits without approval from the RBI.
- The restrictions will remain in force for six months.
4. IFSCA inks MoU with GVFL Limited for strengthening the FinTech ecosystem in GIFT IFSC
- The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) and GVFL Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at IFSCA’s office at Gift City for cooperation and collaboration to support and facilitate the FinTech ecosystem in GIFT IFSC.
- GVFL Limited is a pioneer of Venture Capital in India.
- Promoted by the World Bank and Government of Gujarat in 1990.
5. 13-year-old Riya Jadon wins 11th DGC Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship
- Thirteen-year-old Riya Jadon won the DGC Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship here on Thursday, following a close fight with older sister Lavanya Jadon.
- Riya, who carded 78, 80 and 74, also won the junior girls trophy.
- Over a hundred women golfers took part in this year’s tournament, which resumed at the Delhi Golf Club after a two-year hiatus.
6. World Bank, AIIB to give Rs 7,500 cr loan for Gujarat govt’s Mission School of Excellence project
- The World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will provide a loan of Rs. 7,500 cr for the Gujarat government’s Mission School of Excellence project that aims to improve the quality of education in the state.
- Under the Mission School of Excellence project, the state government will spend Rs 10,000 cr in the next five years.
7. Serbian president Aleksandar Vučić wins new term by landslide
- Serbia’s populist pro-Kremlin president, Aleksandar Vucic, won a landslide victory in the general election, but will need to form a coalition government as he strives to balance ambitions to join the EU with the country’s traditional ties to Russia.

8. India’s trade deficit rises 88% in FY22: Govt data
- India’s trade deficit rose 87.5 per cent to $192.41 billion in 2021-22 as against $102.63 billion in the previous year.
- While total exports during last fiscal year increased to a record high of $417.81 billion, imports soared to $610.22 billion, leaving a trade gap of $192.41 billion.
9. Govt forms advisory committee for Semicon India, under the chairmanship of electronics and telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
- The government has formed an advisory committee to drive the Rs 72,000-crore project, Semicon India, to make the country a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing, design and innovation.
- The committee includes venture capitalist Vinod Dham, who led Intel’s iconic Pentium microprocessor from inception, and Arogyaswami Paulraj.
10. Six programmes from India’s Institutes of Eminence in top 100 in world : QS Ranking
- Six programmes at India’s Institutes of Eminence (IoEs) have managed to break into the top 100 in the world in the latest ‘QS Rankings by Subject’.
- In total, 35 Indian programmes achieved top 100 positions – 10 more than the 2021 edition of the tables.
- The rankings are compiled by global higher education analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds.

- A two-day Indo-Israel Bilateral workshop on Quantum Technologies (I2QT-2022), organised by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and DRDO-Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE), IIT Delhi has concluded in New Delhi.
- The workshop was attended by Indian and Israeli delegations consisting of academic experts, R&D professionals and Industry partners.

- Infrastructure tycoon Gautam Adani is the second-richest person in India and 11th overall (Worth $90 billion).
14. Ramdarash Mishra selected for Saraswati Samman 2021
- Noted poet and litterateur Prof Ramdarash Mishra will be awarded the prestigious Saraswati Samman, 2021, for his collection of poems ‘Mein to Yahan Hun’, the KK Birla Foundation announced.
- Instituted in 1991, It carries a citation, a plaque, and a cash prize of ₹15 lakhs.
- The recipient is chosen by a selection committee, whose current head is Dr Subhash C Kashyap.
15. UP CM Yogi Adityanath Launches ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’; Aims For 100 Per Cent Enrollment
- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ with an aim to ensure 100 per cent enrolment in primary and upper primary schools across the state.
- The campaign is being launched after two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
