1. Government launches country’s biggest ever Quiz Contest “Sabka Vikas Mahaquiz”
- MyGov under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is organising the Sabka Vikas Mahaquiz Series, which is part of an outreach effort to build awareness in citizens.
- The quiz aims to sensitise the participants about the various schemes and initiatives and how to avail the benefits.
- The quiz series will deepen government engagement at grassroot level.
- Sabka Vikas Mahaquiz launched on 14th April as a tribute to Dr. BR Ambedkar.
2. India to host Street Child Cricket World Cup in 2023
- India will host the Street Child Cricket World Cup in 2023.
- Organised by Street Child United and Save the Children India.
- In 2019, this championship was held in London where eight teams competed, and Team India South lifted the cup after beating hosts England.
3. Madagascar joins India-backed Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure
- Madagascar became the 30th country to join the India-backed Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure that aims to help small island nations develop resilience to deal with the adverse impact of climate change.
- The CDRI is a global partnership that aims to promote the resilience of infrastructure systems to climate and disaster risks ensuring sustainable development
- PM had launched the CDRI during his address at the UN Climate Action Summit in 2019
4. IIT Madras launches first affordable, Made-In-India prosthetic knee called ‘Kadam’
- IIT Madras researchers have launched the country’s first Made-in-India polycentric prosthetic knee.
- Called ‘Kadam’, the affordable prosthetic knee can transform the lives of thousands of above-knee amputees through not just mobility with ease, but also increased community participation, access to education, livelihood opportunities and overall well-being.
5. TCS-led consortium bags Rs 550-crore order to deploy 4G gears in BSNL
- A TCS-led consortium has bagged Rs 550 crore order from BSNL for deploying indigenously designed 4G network.
- The TCS consortium will initially deploy 6,000 mobile towers for BSNL 4G services.
- Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had informed Parliament that indigenous 4G telecom network will soon be rolled out across India with the BSNL planning to install about 1.12 lakh tower
6. RBI imposes penalties on Axis Bank, IDBI Bank
- Reserve Bank of India said it has imposed a penalty of Rs 93 lakh on Axis Bank for various violations, including KYC guidelines.
- The central bank has also slapped a fine of Rs 90 lakh on IDBI Bank.
- The penalties are based on deficiencies in regulatory compliance and are not intended to pronounce upon the validity of any transaction or agreement entered by customers.
7. Axis Bank inks USD 150 mn partial guarantee pact with ADB to support supply chain financing
- Axis Bank has collaborated with Asian Development Bank for a partial guarantee programme with initial outlay of USD 150 million aimed at supporting supply chain financing for impact sectors.Special focus will be towards ESG, another priority sector, re-affirming both institutions’ commitments to positive developmental and environmental impact in the country.

- Young Indian Grandmaster, R Pragganandhaa won the prestigious Reykjavik Open chess tournament in Reykjajvik, Iceland with 7.5 points from nine rounds.
- The 16-year-old Pragganandhaa defeated compatriot GM D Gukesh in the final round to emerge sole winner.
- He had recently hogged the limelight after stunning world No.1 Magnus Carlsen in an online tournament.
9. Tamil Nadu will celebrate April 14 as ‘Equality Day’ in memory of BR Ambedkar: CM Stalin
- Making a statement under Rule 110 in the Assembly, CM MK Stalin said that Ambedkar’s birth anniversary will be observed as ‘Samathuva Naal’ (Equality Day).
- The CM also announced that selected works of Ambedkar will be translated to Tamil by the TN government.
- CM Stain said that the day will be celebrated like how Periyar’s birthday is observed as ‘Social Justice Day’.
- September 17, the birth anniversary of social reformer Periyar EV Ramasamy.
10. Cabinet approves pact between Sebi, Canada’s Manitoba Securities Commission
- The Union Cabinet has approved signing of a pact between the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) and Canada’s Manitoba Securities Commission.
- The bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) seeks to have a formal basis for cross-border co-operation in the area of securities regulations.
11. Cabinet approves signing of MoC between India and Japan in Decentralized Domestic Wastewater Management
- Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave its ex-post facto approval for a Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD&GR), Ministry of Jal Shakti and The Ministry of the Environment of Japan in the areas of Decentralized Domestic Waste Water Management.
