1. NITI Aayog and UNICEF India Sign Statement of Intent on SDGs Focusing on Children
- NITI Aayog & UNICEF India signed a Statement of Intent on the Sustainable Development Goals with a focus on children.
- Reiterating a mutual commitment towards realizing the rights of children in India, the SoI seeks to formalize a framework of cooperation to launch the first report on the ‘State of India’s Children : Status and Trends in Multidimensional Child Development’.
2. Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman attends FATF Ministerial Meeting in Washington D.C.
- Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman attended the FATF Ministerial Meeting in Washington D.C, conducted along-side the 2022 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
- The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is the global money laundering and terrorist financing watchdog.

3. India Post Payments Bank launches ‘Fincluvation’
- On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence & ongoing Azadi ka Amrit Mahotasav, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), a 100% government owned entity under Department of Posts (DoP) announced the launch of Fincluvation– a joint initiative to collaborate with Fintech Startup community to co-create and innovate solutions for financial inclusion.
4. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to inaugurate DefConnect 2.0 organised by iDEX-DIO
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate DefConnect 2.0 organised by Innovations for Defence Excellence, Defence Innovation Organisation (iDEX-DIO) in New Delhi.
- The event will attract a large number of innovators and investors from the country’s leading industries in the defence sector.
5. Babita Singh named as the new Global Peace Ambasador 2022
- Serial entrepreneur Babita Singh has been conferred as a Global Peace Ambassador for promoting Peace through Education, Sports, Art, Culture & Diplomacy at the India International Conclave 2022 held in collaboration with Asia Africa Consortium (AAC) that took place in Shangrila, New Delhi.
6. Russia has test-launched ‘Satan 2’ Sarmat missile
- Russia’s Ministry of Defence said it had completed the launch of its RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), a new addition to its nuclear arsenal which Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said would provide Moscow’s enemies with “food for thought”.
- It has been under development since 2009.
7. Tripura collaborates with NIXI-CSC to set up world class data centre
- The Tripura government has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NIXI-CSC Data Services Centre to establish an international standard Data Centre here, an official.
- National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and CSE e-governance services Ltd, have floated a joint venture – NIXI-CSC Data Services Centre to set up the proposed data centre.
8. Chinese banks continue to dominate; ICICI latest Indian entrant among top banks in APac
- The assets size of the country’s top banks has improved in 2021 with State Bank of India (SBI) and HDFC Bank climbing up two notches from 22 & 46 respectively, in the latest S&P Global Market Intelligence’s ranking of the Asia-Pacific’s largest banks.
- What’s more, the third-largest lender – ICICI Bank — has found a place in the league table with the rank of 50.
9. MoU signed between Indian Navy (IN) and M/s Larsen and Toubro (L&T)
- The MoU aims to engage M/s L&T as a Knowledge Partner for nurturing technologies in various domains, for induction into the Indian Navy.
- The MoU encompasses all the aspects related to Electrical, Weapon, Engineering, Machinery and Control, and Hull of a Naval Warship.
10. INS Vagsheer,the sixth Scorpene Submarine of Project-75, launched in Mumbai.
- INS Vagsheer was launched in Mumbai by Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar.
- These submarines are being constructed at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) Mumbai, in collaboration with Naval Group, France.
- Scorpene submarines can undertake multifarious types of missions i.e anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, mine laying, area surveillance etc
- INS Kalvari,first Scorpene class submarine was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 2017.
11. IFSCA executes MoU with National Insurance Academy (NIA)
- The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), with an objective of capacity building and providing a skilled talent pool in the insurance sector in International Financial Services Centres (IFSCs), has entered into an MoU with NIA.
- NIA is a premium institution devoted to equip the insurance industry with the best of talents.
12. Indian Grandmaster Dommaraju Gukesh wins title at La Roda International tourney
- Young Indian Grandmaster D. Gukesh emerged victorious in the 48th La Roda International Open Chess tournament in Spain, scoring eight points from nine rounds.
- The 15-year old GM from Chennai, who remained unbeaten through the nine rounds, defeated Israel’s Victor Mikhalevski in the final round.
- R Praggnanandhaa took the third spot.
13. Scientists discover new eel species from Kerala, Bengal
- A group of Indian scientists have discovered a new species of eel from among specimens collected from the Kalamukku and Digha Mohana fishing harbours in Kerala and West Bengal respectively.
- The newly discovered eel belongs to the Congrid eels group and has been named Ariosoma indicum.
- The term Indicum means that it was found in India.
14. Telangana to get world’s largest 3-wheeler EV making plant
- California-based Biliti Electric Inc (Biliti) has announced that it would be establishing the world’s largest electric three-wheeler factory, with a production capacity of 240,000 EVs per year, in Telangana.
- The new plant is estimated to bring an investment of US$ 150 million and generate over 3,000 jobs.
15. Defence Secy inaugurates 8th National Level Pollution Response Exercise by Coast Guard
- Union Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar inaugurated the eighth edition of National Level Pollution Response Exercise NATPOLREX being conducted by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) off Mormugao harbour in Goa.
- The objective of NATPOLREX-VIII is to enhance the preparedness and response capability of all the stakeholders in combating marine spills.
