1. PM Modi to Inaugurate newly-built Deoghar airport in Jharkhand
- Deoghar Airport will be the 68th destination which will be connected to Kolkata, Patna and Ranchi under UDAN.
- The first UDAN flight connecting Kolkata and Deoghar will be inaugurated on July 12, 2022.
- The Deoghar airport is spread over 657 acres and has a 2,500-metre-long runway, which can handle the landing and takeoff of Airbus A320 planes.
2. Defence Ministry to launch 75 newly developed Artificial Intelligence products in New Delhi
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will launch the first-ever ‘Artificial Intelligence in Defence’ (AIDef) symposium and exhibition organised by the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence on July 11 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
- It is a big event where 75 newly-developed AI products/technologies, having applications in defence, will be launched.
- The AI task force on Defence was established in 2018.
3. INS Vikrant Successfully Completes 4th Phase Of Sea Trials
- The 4th phase of Sea Trials for IAC was successfully completed on 10 Jul 22, during which integrated trials of the majority of equipment and systems onboard including some of the Aviation Facilities Complex.
- Maiden Sea Trials of IAC were successfully completed on Aug 21.
- This was followed by the second and third phases of Sea Trials on Oct 21 and Jan 22 respectively.
- The ship’s delivery is being targeted for the end of July 22.
4. Novak Djokovic (Serbia) beats Nick Kyrgios (Australia) for 7th Wimbledon title
- He extended his unbeaten run at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament to 28 matches and raised his career haul to 21 major trophies, breaking a tie with Roger Federer and moving just one behind Rafael Nadal’s 22 for the most in the history of men’s tennis.
- Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan), won the women’s trophy with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Ons Jabeur (Tunisia).
5. A 2-Day regional conference “Bringing Citizens, Entrepreneurs And Government Closer For Good Governance” at Bengaluru
- The Regional Conference is being organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka.
- Delegates from all States/Union Territories will participate in the Conference.
- More than 400 delegates from PAN-India are expected to participate in the Conference.
- The Conference is being held in a semi-virtual mode.
6. India sets world record for building longest double-decker bridge in Nagpur
- National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) & Maharashtra Metro achieved the world record for constructing the longest double-decker(3.14 km) viaduct in Nagpur.
- The longest viaduct with highway flyover and metro rail supported on single column piers.
- Maximum metro stations(3) constructed on a double-decker viaduct are recognized by Asia Book of Records & India Book of records.
7. ICAR-NBFGR scientists discover two new species of marine fishes along Tamil Nadu coast
- Scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBFGR) have found two new species of marine fishes in Tamil Nadu.
- One is a type of eel, from the Colachel fish landing centre in Kanyakumari district, and the other is a sardine fish from Pattinapakkam fish landing centre in Chennai.
- ICAR-NBFGR was established in 1983 in Lucknow, UP.
8. GRSE signs agreement with Bengal govt to build next-gen electric ferry
- The Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd, a Mini Ratna Category 1 Defence PSU and a leading warship building company in India, signed a contract with the Government of West Bengal.
- Contracted sign for the design and construction of the next-generation electric ferry that will pave the way for reducing carbon emission in the water transport sector in the state.
9. Mumbai’s CSMT becomes first station to have augmented reality experience
- The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai has become the first railway station in India to be equipped with augmented reality screens.
- The futuristic technology will allow passengers at the station to get a real-time digitised time table with a dedicated scrolling screen and railway information for an engaging experience.
10. Jharkhand tops in Rurban Mission’s delta ranking
- Jharkhand has topped in the delta ranking of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Rurban Mission with composite score of 76.19 in the month of June.
- With this, the state has improved its position to 8th place in overall ranking of the mission.
- In the delta ranking, the state has improved its score by 1.93 compared to May, which is the highest improvement among the 34 states/UTs.
- The Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India has released the Delta Ranking.
11. Sanjiv Puri elected CII Vice President for FY23, R Dinesh as President Designate
- ITC chairman & MD Sanjiv Puri has been elected the Vice President of CII for 2022-23, while TVS Supply Chain Solutions Executive Vice Chairman R Dinesh has become the new President Designate replacing Hero Motocorp Chairman and CEO Pawan Munjal.
- Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman and Managing Director, Bajaj Finserv Limited, continues to be the President of CII for the year 2022-23.
12. UP becomes first state to integrate One District One Product(ODOP)mart with ONDC platform
- Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to connect ODOP mart with the Open Network for Digital Commerce(ONDC) platform, an initiative aiming at promoting open networks for all aspects of exchange of goods and services over digital or electronic networks.
- With this onboarding, ODOP products will be displayed on all e-com apps and portals associated with ONDC.
13. CCPA directs district collectors to ensure enforcement of Guidelines issued with regard to service tax by hotels, restaurants
- Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has directed district collectors to ensure enforcement of Guidelines issued with regard to service tax by hotels and restaurants.
- Upon receiving related complaints, the district collector may conduct an investigation pertaining to violation of the guidelines and submit the report to the Authority within 15 days.

14. Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy elected president for lifetime of YSRC
- Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was elected president for lifetime of Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress party YSRC.
- Mr Jagan established the YSRC in March 2011 after quitting Congress.
- Ever since, he has been continuing as the party president, with his mother Vijayamma as honorary president.
- Mr Jagan was last elected the YSRC president at the party plenary in 2017.
15. J&K: Maiden sowing of Mash crop across the fence at Hiranagar IB starts after 19 years
- In Jammu and Kashmir, the maiden sowing of Mash crop at Zero Line, across the fence on Indo-Pak International Border in Hiranagar sector started on July 8, 2022, after 19 years.
- Kathua District Administration under its resolve to resume cultivation on the Zero Line land has fixed a target of 200 acres under Mash crop during the Kharif Season 2022.
16. National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) introduces Internet Exchanges in Durgapur and Bardhaman
- In July 2022, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar – Minister of State, Electronics and Information Technology, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship inaugurated two new Internet Exchange points (IXP) of NIXI at Durgapur and Bardhman.
- It is an initiative under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) vision 1000 days.
- The first Internet Exchange of the state in Kolkata is run by NIXI.
17. WAPCOS, NPTI sign MoU for mutual co-operation in power sector
- Water and Power Consultancy Services Limited (WAPCOS), a PSU under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, has signed an MoU with the National Power Training Institute (NPTI), a national apex body for training in the power sector under the Ministry of Power, for mutual cooperation in the field of the power sector.
