1. Second series of sovereign Gold Bonds For FY 23 opens for subscription: August 22 – August 26, 2022.
- The Finance Ministry said, the issue price of the Sovereign Gold Bonds 2022-23 (Series -2). during the subscription period will be 5,197 rupees per gram.
- The government in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India has decided to allow a discount of 50 rupees per gram from the issue price to those investors who apply online and the payment is made through digital mode.
- What is Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB)?
- The Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme was launched by the Govt in November 2015, under the Gold Monetisation Scheme.
- They are substitutes for holding physical gold.
- Investors have to pay the issue price in cash and the bonds will be redeemed in cash on maturity.
2. Union Minister Jitendra Singh unveils India’s first Hydrogen fuel cell bus
- Dr Jitendra Singh today launched India’s first truly indigenously developed Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus developed by KPIT-CSIR in Pune.
- Later, Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated the Bisphenol-A pilot plant in CSIR-NCL and said these pilot plants have successfully demonstrated novel process technologies developed by NCL under CSIR’s Covid-19 mission program and Bulk Chemicals mission
3. Oleksandr Usyk defeats Anthony Joshua in dramatic rematch to retain heavyweight titles
- Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk has beaten Britain’s Anthony Joshua in a surprise split points decision and retained his WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO world heavyweight boxing belts.
- The fight in Saudi Arabia’s Jedda on was a rematch of one in London.
- This victory took Usyk’s professional record to 20 fights undefeated.

5. Jharkhand becomes first state in India to distribute seed to farmers via blockchain tech
- In a significant development which would revolutionize agriculture in the country, Directorate of Agriculture, Jharkhand and global blockchain technology company, SettleMint, India jointly announced the successful launch of seed distribution to farmers based on blockchain technology.
- Jharkhand is 1st to implement blockchain in the country which is being used to track seed.

6. National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE)
- The Scheme has been approved with an outlay of Rs. 360 crore for four years from 2022-23 to 2025-26.
- Namaste is a Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) as a joint initiative of the MoSJE and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
7. Mastercard partners with leading badminton players to promote digital payments in India
- Mastercard has partnered with Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty and appointed them as brand ambassadors in India.

- Once a product gets this tag, any person or company cannot sell a similar item under that name.
- This tag is valid for a period of 10 years.
10. UIDAI Adds over 79 Lakh Children to Bal Aadhaar initiative in 4 months from April to July 2022
- The Unique Identification Authority has enrolled more than 79 lakh children in the 0-5 years of age group during the first four months of FY 2022-23, according to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Electronics and IT.
- UIDAI is part of a renewed effort to reach out to more children in the 0-5 age group under the Bal Aadhaar initiative.
