1. Samsung Axis Bank Visa credit card launched

  • Consumers can choose between two variants – Visa Signature and Visa Infinite.
  • On the Signature variant, cardholders can avail up to INR 10000 cashback annually, with a monthly cash back limit of INR 2500.
  • On the Infinite variant, cardholders can avail up to INR 20000 cashback annually, with a monthly cash back limit of INR 5000.

2. Google’s India policy head Archana Gulati resigns

  • Google’s head of public policy for India has resigned just five months after taking the job, at a potentially critical time for the U.S. tech giant as it awaits the outcome of at least two antitrust cases in the country.
  • She was a long-time Indian government employee, having worked until March 2021 as a joint secretary for digital communications at NITI Aayog.

3. Centre launches JALDOOT app for Rural Development

  • The Rural Development Ministry has developed the JALDOOT App to capture the water level of selected wells in villages across the country.
  • The Jaldoot app will enable Gram Rojgar Sahayak to measure the water level of selected wells twice a year (pre-monsoon and post-monsoon).
  • In every village, an adequate number of measurement locations (2-3) shall need to be selected.

4. Govt commits Rs. 7,385 crore under Fund of Funds for Startup India Investment

  • Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS), launched under Startup India initiative in 2016 by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has committed Rs. 7,385 crore to 88 Alternative Investment Funds (AIF) as of 24th September 2022.
  • These AIFs in turn have invested Rs. 11,206 crore in 720 startups.
  • FFS has been playing a monumental role in mobilizing domestic capital in the Indian startup ecosystem.
  • FFS was announced with a corpus of Rs. 10,000 crore.

    • It is a special investment category that differs from conventional investment instruments.

5. Uttar Pradesh tops GeM chart with GMV of more than Rs 24,000 crore

  • The Uttar Pradesh government has emerged as the top buyer on the Government e-Marketplace portal with a gross merchandise value (GMV) of more than Rs 24,000 crore.
  • The central government’s GeM portal, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2016, is an end-to-end e-marketplace, where commonly used goods and services are procured by the government agencies.

6. India achieves significant landmarks in Child Mortality Reduction

  • As per the Sample Registration System (SRS) Statistical Report 2020 released on 22nd September 2022 by Registrar General of India (RGI), the country has been witnessing a progressive reduction in IMR, U5MR and NMR since 2014 towards achieving the SDG’s.

7. Indian-origin UK minister Suella Braverman wins first Queen Elizabeth II award

  • Britain’s Indian-origin Home Secretary Suella Braverman has been named winner of the first-ever Queen Elizabeth II Woman of the Year award at a ceremony in London.
  • The 42-year-old barrister, who was appointed to the Cabinet earlier this month by British Prime Minister Liz Truss.

8. RINL bags National Energy Leader Award for the fourth time consecutively

  • RINL has been awarded the National Energy Leader Award for the fourth time consecutively and the Excellent Energy Efficient Unit Award for the sixth time in a row from 2017 onwards from the Confederation of Indian Industry Godrej Green Business Centre.
  • It is a rare achievement in any Integrated Steel Plant and PSU to win the National Energy Leader Award Continuously for four years.

9. Kerala awarded ‘best performing state’ in providing free healthcare

  • Union Health Minister awarded the Ayushman Utkrishtata Puraskaar (Ayushman Excellence Awards) 2022 to felicitate the –
    • Top Performing State/UT (Andhra Pradesh).
    • Top Performing District (Parvathipuram Manyam, Andhra Pradesh).
    • Top Performing Government Facility (District Hospital Dharwad, Karnataka).
    • Best Performing Union Territories (Chandigarh, J&K).

10. Piramal Financial, Zurich Insurance to form partnership for Reliance General Insurance Company

  • Piramal Financial and Zurich Insurance, who have submitted separate bids for the general insurance business of Reliance Capital, have decided to form an equal partnership to bid for the Reliance General Insurance.
  • According to sources, both Piramal and Zurich will hold 50 per cent each in the proposed joint venture company.

11. Eliud Kipchoge breaks the world record at the 2022 Berlin marathon

  • Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge shattered his own world record on Sunday (25 September), with a time of 2:01:09 to win the Berlin marathon.
  • Kipchoge’s previous best in an official 42.2km race was 2:01:39 set on the same course in 2018.
  • Ethiopia’s Tigist Assefa won the women’s race in a course record of 2:15:37, the third fastest time in history.

12. Health minister inaugurates Arogya Manthan 2022 to mark 4th anniversary of AB PM-JAY

  • Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated “Arogya Manthan 2022” to celebrate four years of the implementation of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and one year of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) on September 25.

13. Telangana’s state festival Bathukamma off to a colourful start

14. Op ‘Megha Chakra’: CBI conducts searches in 21 states/UT against child abuse material

  • The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out searches in 21 states/Union Territory in relation to the circulation and sharing of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
  • CBI launched the operation – code-named ‘Megha Chakra’ – following inputs from Interpol headquarters, Crime against Children unit in Singapore.

15. Reliance acquires 20% stake in US-based tech firm Caelux for $12 million

  • Reliance New Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of India’s biggest firm by market cap, has signed definitive agreements to invest in Caelux Corp., a Pasadena, California-based company engaged in the development of perovskite-based solar technology.

16. AAI to deploy private security personnel at 60 airports for non-core duties

  • Airports Authority of India (AAI) will deploy 1,924 private security agency (PSA) security personnel across 60 airports in place of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
  • AAI also said it has appointed 581 security personnel from Directorate General Resettlement (DGR)-sponsored security agencies for non-core posts at 45 airports.

17. President Draupadi Murmu confers NSS Awards 2020-21 at Rashtrapati Bhawan

  • President Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Service Scheme NSS Awards for the year 2020-21 today, September 24 at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
  • A total of forty-two Awards were given.
  • Two Universities, ten NSS Units, their Programme Officers, and 30 NSS Volunteers received the awards.
