1. Hyderabad gets India’s first real-time Gold ATM

  • Goldsikka Pvt Ltd has launched the first gold ATM with the technical support of Hyderabad startup M/s OpenCube Technologies Pvt Ltd.
  • This is India’s first and the world’s first real-time gold ATM.
  • The capacity of the ATM is 5 kg of gold.
  • There are 8 available options for the quantity of gold starting from 0.5 grams to 100 grams.

2. CCI approves Bharat Biotech International-Eastman Exports deal

  • The Competition Commission of India has approved Bharat Biotech International Ltd’s proposed transaction to acquire shares in Eastman Exports Global Clothing Pvt Ltd through a share purchase agreement.
  • The proposed combination involves the acquisition of shares of Eastman Exports Global Clothing (EEGC) by Bharat Biotech International Ltd (BBIL).

3. Adani Green becomes world’s largest wind-solar hybrid power developer with 450 MW Rajasthan plant

  • Adani Green said it has commissioned a 450MW wind-solar hybrid power plant in Rajasthan.
  • Adani Green Energy has the largest operating hybrid generation capacity of 1,440 MW with its new hybrid power plant in Jaisalmer.
  • With a total installed capacity of 7.17GW, AGEL is the largest developer of wind-solar hybrid power stations.

4. SBI’s personal loans portfolio crosses ₹5 lakh cr mark

  • SBI announced that its personal banking advances excluding high value home loans have crossed the ₹ 5 lakh-crore mark.
  • The largest lender in the country took a year to book the last ₹ 1 lakh crore of advances, as against over 15 months for the previous ₹ 1 lakh crore and over 30 months for the previous ₹ 1 lakh crore

5. Extensive exploration programme to find minerals stepped up in Rajasthan

  • The Rajasthan government is extensively prospecting for minerals in the state and there are chances of discovering gold and emeralds.
  • With the financial support of the Rajasthan State Mineral Exploration Trust (RSMET), a major mineral exploration program is underway in the Banswara-Nathdwara, Rajsamand, Barmer and Udaipur regions.

6. Shriram Finance turns India’s largest retail NBFC after merger

  • Shriram Transport Finance and Shriram City Union Finance Ltd. became Shriram Finance Ltd. merged.
  • After the merger, Shriram Finance has become India’s largest retail NBFC with a robust net worth of Rs. 40900 crore and assets under management of Rs. 1,71,000 crore.
  • It appointed Ms. Maya Sinha as independent director and Mr. Juugal Kishor Mohapatra as chairman.

7. Meta, Bharti Airtel to bring worlds longest subsea cable to India

  • Bharti Airtel said it will partner with Facebook parent company Meta to jointly invest in global connectivity infrastructure to extend the subsea cable “2Africa Pearls” to India.
  • When it was launched in 2020, the 37,000 km subsea cable connected 23 countries.
  • It has grown into one of the longest undersea cable systems in the world and is designed to provide faster internet connectivity.

8. Millets-Smart Nutritive Food’ conclave; to help boost exports of nutri-cereals

  • Union Minister for Trade and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal, said India must strive to become the millet capital of the world.
  • He was speaking at the Millets-Smart Nutritional Food Conference in New Delhi.
  • Shri Goyal pointed out that in 2018 India had celebrated the Year of Millets.

9. India jumps to 48th spot in international aviation safety ranking

  • India has moved up to 48th place in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) global aviation safety ranking, according to DGCA officials.
  • Four years ago, the country was ranked 102nd position.
  • Singapore topped the list, followed by the United Arab Emirates and South Korea in second and third.
  • China is at the 49th place.

10. Asian Junior C’ships: Unnati Hooda wins India’s first-ever medal in under-17 category

  • Indian shuttler Unnati Hooda has become the first Indian U17 player to win a medal at the Asian Junior Badminton Championships.
  • In the women’s singles gold medal match, she lost to Thailand’s Sarunrak Vitidsarn.
  • In the men’s doubles category, the in-form duo of Arsh and Sanskar also got a silver medal.
  • Unnati Hooda is world No. 4 in the junior badminton world rankings.

11. UAE emerges as second biggest tea importer from India after CIS bloc

  • The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has become India’s second largest tea importer after the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), according to the latest data of Tea Board.
  • The UAE imported 28.58 million kilograms of tea from India during the January-September 2022 period, a 159 percent increase over the same nine-month period in 2021.

12. India to assume chairmanship of Wassenaar Arrangement on 1 Jan 2023

  • On January 1, 2023, India will assume the chairmanship of the Wassenaar Arrangement (WA), a multilateral technology control agreement, for a one-year term.
  • India joined the Wassenaar Arrangement, a multilateral export control regime, in 2017 as its 42nd member.
  • The WA operates on a voluntary basis and decisions are made by consensus.

13. GST collection grows 11 per cent to Rs 1.46 lakh crore in November

  • Goods and services tax (GST) levies rose 11 per cent to about 1.46 lakh crore rupees in November, government data showed, amid higher consumer spending and better compliance.
  • This is the ninth consecutive month that revenue has remained above Rs 1.4 lakh crore.
  • In October, GST collections had touched the second-highest level of Rs 1.52 lakh crore.

14. Reserve Bank of India issues framework for Indian banks’ foreign biz

  • The Reserve Bank of India has created a framework that allows foreign subsidiaries and branches of Indian banks and financial institutions to engage in activities not expressly permitted in the Indian domestic market.
  • The framework also specifies the applicability of these instructions to International Financial Services Centres in India, including Gujarat International Finance Tec-City.

15. Centre is committed to provide comprehensive insurance coverage against crop loss on account of non-preventable natural risks under PMFBY

  • The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has reiterated that under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana government has pledged to provide comprehensive insurance against crop loss due to unavoidable natural disasters in the last 6 years.
  • Rs 25,186 crores have been paid by farmers as the premium, wherein Rs. 1,25,662 crores have been paid to farmers.

    • Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 18, 2016, Pradhan Mantri fasal bima yojana (PMFBY) is an insurance service for farmers’ crops.
    • It was developed on the theme of One Nation – One Scheme and replaced two previous schemes, the National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and the Modified National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (MNAIS).
    • The main purpose of the scheme is to reduce the insurance premium burden of farmers and ensure full settlement of crop insurance claims as soon as possible.

16. Edelweiss Mutual Fund launches fourth tranche of ‘BHARAT Bond ETF’

  • Edelweiss Mutual Fund has announced the launch of the fourth tranche of BHARAT Bond ETF, India’s first corporate bond ETF (Exchange Traded Fund).
  • The Bharat Bond ETF is a central government initiative that invests only in ‘AAA’ rated bonds issued by public sector companies.
