2. Indian economist Amartya Sen wins Peace Prize of the German Book Trade
- Harvard professor & Nobel prize winner Sen was granted the 2020 Peace Prize of the German Book Trade for his decades-long work on the question “as a question of global justice.”
- The Peace Prize of the German Book Trade has been awarded annually since 1950.
- It comes with a cash prize of 25,000 euros ($28,000).
3. Harsh Vardhan launches India’s first mobile laboratory for COVID-19 testing
- It can be deployed in rural areas and help in promoting last-mile testing.
- The mobile lab, also called I-Lab or Infectious Diseases Diagnostic Lab can run 50 RT-PCR tests in a day.
- It can also conduct up to 200 ELISA tests in a day.
4. Turkey’s Volkan Bozkir elected president of 75th UN General Assembly
- He is currently serving as a Justice and Development Party lawmaker from Istanbul and head of the Turkish Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee.
- Bozkir is the first Turkish national to head General Assembly.
5. Bank of Baroda to completely digitise lending operations
- BoB is set to completely digitise its lending operations including home, agriculture, MSME, personal & auto loans.

6. ICICI Home Finance launches affordable housing loan scheme
- ICICI Home Finance has launched a special affordable housing loan scheme, with special rates for women, lower and middle-income groups.

- The interest rate starts from 7.98% onwards.

7. Karnataka Bank launches COVID-19 health cover
- Karnataka Bank launched a health insurance policy to cover the uncertainties posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

8. ‘Air-Venti’ App to provide information on ICU beds, ventilators in Mumbai
- In Maharashtra, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has launched a mobile app “Air-Venti”.
- This will help residents in the city to know about the availability of the ICU beds and Ventilators in both government and private hospitals around them.
- The app can help contact hospitals through call and e-mail.
9. CCI approves acquisition of Metso Oyj’s minerals business by Outotec Oyj
- The CCI approves the acquisition of Metso Oyj’s (“Metso”) minerals business by Outotec Oyj (“Outotec”) under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act, 2002.
- It is to be achieved by a partial demerger of Metso Minerals pursuant to the Finnish Companies Act.

10. Aizawl’s Rajiv Gandhi Stadium to be upgraded as KISCE under Khelo India Scheme
- Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju announced that Aizawl’s Rajiv Gandhi Stadium to be upgraded as Khelo India State Centre of Excellence under Khelo India Scheme.
- Ministry plans to establish one KISCE in each state and UT to create a robust sporting ecosystem.
- It is a platform for multiplying existing talents in the region.

- Film director, script writer & producer K R Sachidanandan, popularly known as Sachy, died.
- He passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest.
- He was on ventilator sport.

- His directorial debut was Anarkali in 2015.
12. Former Lok Sabha MP, banker Madhavrao Patil dies in Nashik
- Former Lok Sabha MP and founder of Janalaxmi Cooperative Bank Madhavrao Patil died in Maharashtra.
- He was a staunch supporter of Sharad Pawar and was among the first to join when the latter formed the Nationalist Congress Party in 1999.
- He won from Nashik Lok Sabha Constituency ticket in 1998.
