4. Union Shipping Minister flags off first container ship from Kolkata Port to Agartala via Chattogram port
  • Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya flagged off the first trial container ship from Kolkata to Agartala through Chattogram Port of Bangladesh.
  • It is under the agreement on use of Chattogram and Mongla Ports for movement of India’s transit cargo through Bangladesh.

5. Two Indian-Origin Experts on UK PM’s New Race Commission

  • CSL = Cochin Shipyard Limited.
  • CSL, Kochi signed contracts for construction and supply of Two nos Autonomous Electric Ferry for ASKO Maritime AS, Norway with an option to build 2 more identical vessels.
  • CSL is the largest commercial shipbuilder in India.
  • ASKO is the subsidiary group of Norges Gruppen ASA.

10. Rajya Sabha starts employee welfare scheme in Arun Jaitley’s name
  • The Rajya Sabha secretariat has launched an Employees’ Welfare Scheme called ‘Shri Arun Jaitley Financial Assistance for Group C Employees’.
  • The scheme is named after the former Union finance minister Arun Jaitley, who was also the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha.
  • He served as Union Finance minister during 2014-2019.

11. France, US establish ‘air bubbles’ for flights to India
  • Air France & United Airlines will operate a limited number of international flights under ‘air bubble’ arrangements with India.
  • Air bubble is a travel corridor between 2 countries that wish to reopen their borders & re-establish connections with each other.
  • Negotiations are underway with Germany & UK for air bubbles.

12. India & EU agree to renew Agreement S&T Co-operation for 5 years
  • India and EU agreed to renew the Agreement on Scientific cooperation for the next five years, 2020-2025.
  • PM Modi, European Council President Charles Michel & President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen were participated in the summit.
  • 15th India-EU Summit was held virtually.
