1. India successfully decommissions INSAT-4B satellite

  • The ISRO said as a part of India’s continual efforts towards preservation of the long-term sustainability of outer space, INSAT-4B has undergone post mission disposal (PMD) at the end of its life, followed by decommissioning on January 24, 2022.
  • The decommissioning of the satellite was to comply with the UN and the Inter IADC recommended space debris mitigation guidelines.

2. AYUSH Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launches dedicated storefront for Ayurveda products on Amazon

  • AYUSH Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched a dedicated storefront for Ayurveda products on Amazon in the marketplace.
  • This Ayurveda product storefront will enhance the visibility of unique Ayurveda products such as various kinds of juices, skin-care supplements, immunity boosters, oils and more from small businesses and startup brands.
  • It will make shopping easier.

 

3. Sanjay Malhotra appointed DFS Secretary in Finance Ministry

  • The Center has appointed Sanjay Malhotra, as Secretary in the Department of Financial Services in the Finance Ministry.
  • He is a 1990 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre.
  • Before this, Malhotra was Chairman and Managing Director of REC Ltd.
  • He succeeds Debashish Panda, who recently completed his term as DFS Secretary on January 31.

4. RBI imposes ₹10 lakh penalty on Kerala-based Pooram Finserv

  • RBI has imposed a financial penalty of ₹10 lakh on Pooram Finserv Pvt Restricted in Kerala’s Thrissur for non-adherence with sure provisions.

5. J&K onboards the ‘Digital India’ brandwagon, becomes first UT to integrate with National Single Window System

  • Onboarding the ‘Digital India’ brandwagon for a maiden digital journey of sorts by any union territory so far, the Jammu & Kashmir has become the first UT to adopt the National Single Window System (NSWS) to fast-track key investment proposals digitally through the new portal.
  • NSWS is a digital platform that serves as a guide for investors to identify and apply for approvals digitally as per their business requirements.
  • It is linked with the India Industrial Land Bank which hosts 45 industrial parks of J&K.

6. Jammu Smart City to develop Apsara Road ‘High Street’ for enhanced walkability experience and connectivity

  • Aiming to develop street, walkability experience and connectivity for citizens, Jammu Smart City Ltd (JSCL) signed a pact for the development of Apsara road ‘High Street’ Gole market area along with the adjoining roads.
  • The Rs 50-crore development project is under the Smart City programme of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

7. S. Kishore appointed as new SSC Chairman

  • Senior bureaucrat Kishore has been appointed as Chairman, Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
  • According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
  • Presently, he is serving as Special Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

8. IDFC First Bank appoints Chetan Sanghvi as Chief Risk Officer

9. Amazon India signs MoU with NIF incubator to fire up Indian innovators

  • Amazon India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NIF Incubation and Entrepreneurship Council (NIFientreC).
  • NIFientreC is a technology business incubator hosted by National Innovation Foundation (NIF) to accelerate grassroots innovation, local economy, and livelihoods across rural India.

10. Pradip Shah, ex-consultant to World Bank, appointed Pfizer India chairman

  • Pfizer India has appointed Pradip Shah as the chairman of its board following the resignation of R A Shah.
  • Pradip Shah is the ex-managing director and a founding member of Crisil.
  • Prior to founding Crisil, he assisted in founding HDFC in 1977.
  • He has also served as a consultant to USAID, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank.

11. RBL Bank partners with Creditas Solutions to automate collections

  • RBL Bank has partnered with Creditas Solutions for its ‘Neo Collections’ platform.
  • The private sector lender will utilise the SaaS-based platform to accelerate efficiency in collections across the loan cycle.
  • The platform can also determine the best course of action for every customer by offering customised payment plans to service debt, and schedule an EMI plan.

12. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Flags Off NITI Aayog’s Fintech Open Summit

  • In an effort to showcase the importance of the fintech industry, NITI Aayog, in collaboration with PhonePe, AWS and EY, has organized a three-week-long virtual summit, ‘Fintech Open’, from 7–28 February.
  • Fintech Open aims to create an immersive learning experience.
  • Ashwini Vaishnaw is the Union Minister for Railways, Communications, & Electronics and IT.

13. SBI Q3 net profit jumps 62% to record Rs 8,432 crore

  • India’s biggest lender State Bank of India reported a jump of 62.27% year on year (YoY) in the third quarter (Q3) of the financial year 2021-22 (FY22) to Rs 8,432
  • It is the highest-ever quarterly figure, the bank said.
  • SBI reported a net profit of Rs 5,196 crore in the corresponding period last year.
