1. Exercise Dharma Guardian-2022 Culminates at Belgaum (Karnataka)

  • Ex DHARMA GUARDIAN-2022, an annual exercise between Indian Army and Japanese Ground Self Defence Force.
  • Which commenced on 27 February 2022 at Foreign Training Node, Belgaum successfully culminated on 10 March 2022 after twelve days of intense joint military training, providing a unique opportunity of achieving synergy between Armed Forces of both nations.

2. Prabha Narasimhan appointed as Colgate-Palmolive India CEO

  • Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited appointed former Hindustan Unilever (HUL) executive Prabha Narasimhan as its CEO and MD as present chief Ram Raghavan got promoted to the role of President, Enterprise Oral Care, at its parent firm – Colgate Palmolive Company.
  • Raghavan succeeded Issam Bachaalani, former MD Colgate-Palmolive (India), in 2019.

3. Yoon Suk-yeol will be the next president of South Korea

  • South Korea has chosen a conservative opposition candidate, Yoon Suk-yeol, as the country’s next president following a tightly-contested race.
  • Yoon, a political novice, edged out a victory over the Democratic Party’s Lee Jae-myung based on promises to tackle class inequality.
  • He called his win a “victory of the great South Korean people”.

4. Bureau of Indian Standards signs MoU with IIT Roorkee for establishment of ‘BIS Standardization Chair Professor’

  • Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Roorkee (IITR) on 10th March 2022 for establishment of ‘BIS Standardization Chair Professor’ at IIT Roorkee.
  • This would be the first Standardization Chair established by BIS in an Institute for activities on Standardization and Conformity Assessment.

5. India, Canada to hold 5th Ministerial Dialogue on Trade and Investment

  • India and Canada will be holding the 5th Ministerial Dialogue on Trade and Investment (MDTI) from March 10-13.
  • The meeting will be co-chaired by Piyush Goyal, Minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industry and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
  • Total bilateral trade between India and Canada including goods and services crossed USD 11 billion.

6. S Sreesanth announces retirement from all forms of first-class cricket

  • India pacer Sreesanth announced his retirement from all forms of domestic cricket.
  • Sreesanth took to Twitter to announce his retirement from all domestic formats of the game.
  • Sreesanth played 27 Tests and 53 ODIs for India, taking 87 and 75 wickets respectively.
  • He has also taken seven wickets in 10 T20

7. India And World Bank Sign $125 million Loan To Support Social Protection Services In West Bengal

  • The Government of India, the Government of West Bengal, & the World Bank signed a $125 mn IBRD loan to support efforts to help poor & vulnerable groups access social protection services in West Bengal.
  • The state runs more than 400 programs that provide social assistance, care services, & jobs.
  • Most of these services are offered through an umbrella platform called Jai Bangla.

8. Indian Railways’ 1st Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal commissioned in Asansol Division of Eastern Railway

  • In pursuance of the Prime Minister’s vision “Gati Shakti” & Ministry of Railways’ policy regarding ‘Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal’ (GCT), the Asansol Division of Indian Railways has successfully commissioned private siding of Maithan Power Limited at Thaparnagar, Jharkhand.
  • It was initiated in the year 2009 & subsequently, the power generation was started in 2011.

9. Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog & KidEx collaborate to promote innovation & entrepreneurship

  • Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog has announced a partnership with KidEx Venture Private Limited to leverage KidEx’s technology platform “IKIGAI” to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among school students.
  • The partnership’s first engagement will go live on 1 May 2022 with AIM Bootcamp, ATL Tinkerpreneur for students of 9600+ schools.

10. Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Textiles to organise pan-India programme “Jharokha “

  • As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Textiles are organizing “Jharokha-Compendium of Indian handicraft/ handloom, art and culture”.
  • It will be a PAN India celebration which will be held at 16 locations in 13 states and UTs.
  • Jharokha is a celebration of the traditional Indian handicrafts, handlooms, and art & culture.

11. RBI releases booklet on modus operandi of financial frauds

  • Sharing of confidential information by customers, knowingly or unknowingly, is one of the major causes leading to financial frauds, according to a booklet, “BE(A)WARE”, released by the Reserve Bank of India.
  • The booklet gives information on the common modus operandi used by fraudsters and precautions to be taken while carrying out various financial transactions.

12. Emami acquires 19% stake in D2C nutrition firm Tru Native F&B

  • Kolkata-based FMCG major Emami Ltd has acquired a 19 per cent equity stake in direct-to-consumer (D2C) nutrition firm Tru Native F&B Pvt Ltd.
  • Tru Native F&B markets nutrition products under the brand TruNativ, targeted at health and fitness enthusiasts.
  • ‘TruNativ’ product offerings are very unique as they are based on real consumer habits and issues.”
  • Emami Ltd Founded in 1974 by RS Agarwal and RS Goenka (both are childhood friends)

13. Jio World Centre Opens in the Heart of Mumbai

  • Reliance Industries Ltd. announced the opening of India’s largest and most prestigious multi-faceted destination, the Jio World Centre.
  • The Centre covers an expanse of 18.5 acres in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, and is set to become an iconic business, commerce and culture destination, giving India and its citizens a world-class landmark.

14. Sikkim govt to provide Rs 20,000 each to all non-working mothers & free sanitary napkin to girl students

  • The Sikkim government will give 20,000 each to all non-working mothers and free sanitary napkins to all girl students of class 9 and above in the state.
  • The state government will implement the ‘Aama Yojna’ for non-working mothers and Bahini scheme for girl students.
  • A sum of 100 crore has been earmarked in the budget for the scheme.

15. Zeta partner Mastercard to power next-gen credit processing for banks, fintechs

  • Zeta, a banking tech unicorn and provider of next-gen credit card processing to banks and fintechs, and Mastercard announced a 5-year global partnership.
  • As part of the agreement, the firms will go-to-market jointly to launch credit cards with issuers worldwide on Zeta’s modern, cloud-native, and fully API-ready credit processing stack.
