1. Ex-Finance Secretary Debasish Panda appointed IRDAI chairman for 3 years
- Former Finance Secretary Debasish Panda has been appointed as the chairman of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for a period of three years.
- He will fill the seat that has been lying vacant after Subhash Chandra Khuntia completed his term in May last year.
- He retired as financial services secretary in January 2022.
2. IPO-bound LIC posts Rs 235 cr profit in Q3 of 2021-22
- The net profit of Life Insurance Corporation of India rose to Rs 234.91 crore in the third quarter of the current financial year.
- It recorded Rs 0.91 crore in the corresponding period of last year.
3. 15th round of Corps Commander level talks underway between India, China
- India and China are holding the 15th round of Corps Commander level talks at the Indian side of Chushul Moldo Meeting Point.
- India and China have been holding talks on the Line of Actual Control in the Eastern Ladakh area to resolve the standoff and 14 rounds have been held so far.

8. Crisil retains GDP growth forecast at 7.8 percent for 2022-23
- Domestic rating agency CRISIL has estimated FY23 real GDP growth at 7.8 percent as compared with the 8.5 per cent projected in the Economic Survey.
- The growth slowed to 7.8 per cent in FY23 from the 9.2 per cent in FY22.
- Global growth is expected to slow this year as major economies see a withdrawal of monetary and fiscal stimulus.

- The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves acquisition of 100% share capital of L&T Investment Management Limited (L&T AMC/Target) by HSBC Asset Management (India) Private Limited (HSBC AMC/Acquirer).
- HSBC AMC is the asset management entity for operating the day-to-day functioning of HSBC Mutual Fund schemes.
10. Ministry of Education releases Report on Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) 2020-21
- Ministry of Education has released the report on Unified District Information System for Education Plus 2020-21 on school education of India.
- The UDISE+ system of online data collection from the schools was developed by the Department of School Education & Literacy in 2018-19 to overcome the issues related to erstwhile practice of manual data filling in paper format.
11. India, Bangladesh, Nepal finalise MOU for implementation of BBIN Motor Vehicles Agreement
- India, Bangladesh & Nepal finalised an enabling MoU to be signed by them for the implementation of the BBIN Motor Vehicles Agreement (MVA), pending ratification of the MVA by Bhutan.
- The delegates agreed on specific steps and timelines to expeditiously finalise the Passenger and Cargo Protocols for the implementation of the BBIN MVA.
- The Indian delegation was led by Smita Pant, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs.
12. India’s largest reclining statue to be situated in Bodh Gaya
- India’s largest reclining statue of Lord Buddha is being built in Bodh Gaya.
- Built by Buddha International Welfare Mission, the statue will be 100 feet long and 30 feet high.
- Lord Buddha is in the sleeping posture in the statue.
- The construction of the giant statue started in the year 2019.
- It is being made with fiberglass and built by sculptors from Kolkata.
13. Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance partners Bharat Co-operative Bank
- Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance (ABSLI), the life insurance subsidiary of Aditya Birla Capital Limited (ABCL), and Bharat Co-operative Bank (Mumbai) Ltd. have announced their bancassurance partnership.
- This collaboration facilitates a common platform to reach out to the bank’s five lac plus customers with relevant life insurance solutions.
14. CCI clears Amazon’s proposal to buy Catamaran’s stake in Cloudtail parent
- The Competition Commission of India has cleared Amazon’s proposal to acquire Catamaran Ventures’ entire stake in Prione Business Services Pvt. Ltd., the joint venture between Infosys co-founder N. R. Narayana Murthy’s Catamaran Ventures and the US-based e-commerce giant.
- Prione Business Services houses Cloudtail, one of the largest retailers in the e-commerce firm’s India.
15. Karnataka govt launches programme to provide 5 lakh jobs to women
- Minister of Higher Education, Electronics, IT-BT, S&T and Skill Development Dr. C N Aswath Narayan has launched Women@Work (W@W) programme.
- It aims to provide five lakh jobs within 2026 to women with necessary employable skills.
- The new initiative was also held as part of the Karnataka digital economy mission programme.
