2. Living Planet Report 2022: 69% drop in wildlife population globally in 50 years
- There has been a 69 per cent decline in the wildlife populations of mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles and fish, across the globe in the last 50 years, according to the latest Living Planet Report by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
- The highest decline (94 percent) was in the Latin America and the Caribbean region, the report showed.

3. The pace of India’s national highway construction slows to 19.44 kms per day in April-September
- “The ministry has constructed 3,559 KMs of National Highways up to September in 2022-23 as compared to 3,824 KMs constructed up to September in 2021-22,” the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in its monthly summary for the Cabinet for September 2022.
- India has awarded 4,092 kms of highway projects during April-September this year.

4. RBI asks banks to stop building positions in offshore market
- The central bank’s move in 2020 came after studies showed that the foreign bank-dominated non-deliverable forward (NDF) market, over which the RBI had little influence, fuelled volatility and often led the spot rupee lower in times of stress.
- Letting Indian banks trade in the segment would give RBI more control.

- A non-deliverable forward (NDF) is a cash-settled, and usually short-term, forward contract.
- The notional amount is never exchanged, and for that reason it’s called “non-deliverable.”
5. RBI and SEBI Issue Standard Operating Procedure for Inter-operable Regulatory Sandbox (IoRS)
- Financial products or service providers whose business models fall within the remit of more than 1 financial sector regulator such as RBI, SEBI, IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India), PFRDA (Pension Fund Regulatory & Development Authority) and IFSCA (International Financial Services Centres Authority) will be considered for the testing under IoRS.
