1. RBI CBDC: Digital Rupee pilot to start from November 1; SBI, HDFC, 7 other banks to participate in wholesale launch
- The regulator has identified nine banks including State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, YES Bank, IDFC First Bank and HSBC for participation in the pilot.
- The use case for this pilot is settlement of secondary market transactions in government securities.
- Use of e₹-W is expected to make the inter-bank market more efficient.
- What is e₹ (Digital Rupee)?
- Digital rupee, also known as Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), is a digital form of currency notes issued by the RBI.
- It is substantially similar to banknotes, but being digital it is likely to be easier, faster and cheaper.
- All transactional benefits will be the same as other forms of digital money.
2. Arunachal Pradesh to get Northeast’s first fish museum
- A fish museum, the first of its kind in the Northeast, would soon be built in Arunachal Pradesh.
- The museum would be a part of the Integrated Aqua Park (IAP), sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Fisheries.
- It will have all fish species of the state and serve as a training centre for fisherfolks.

3. HARIT Aaykar initiative by Income Tax Department for increasing greenery and creating micro forests
- The Income Tax Department has launched the HARIT Aaykar (Hariyali Achievement Resolution by Income Tax) initiative.
- Under this initiative, the Department resolves to increase the green cover by planting trees and creating micro-forests in and around Income Tax Department’s buildings and other public areas.
4. Centre approves Maharashtra’s first Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Ranjangaon, near Pune
- As part of its objective to strengthen the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India, the Ministry of Electronics and IT has approved the greenfield Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) with the project cost of Rs 492.85 crores to be set up in Ranjangaon Phase III, near Pune in Maharashtra.
- In 2014 92% mobile phones used by Indian customers were imported, but now 97% of all mobile phones were domestically manufactured.
