1. With bronze in Belgrade, Bajrang Punia becomes 1st Indian to win 4 medals at world wrestling championships

  • Ace grappler Bajrang Punia became the only Indian to claim four medals at the World Wrestling Championships by clinching a bronze in the current edition, in Belgrade, Serbia.
  • It is Bajrang’s third bronze at the worlds.

    • Punia had earlier won a bronze in 2013, silver in 2018 and bronze in 2019.

2. MAS and IFSCA to pursue cross-border FinTech innovations

  • The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) today signed a FinTech Co-operation Agreement (CA) to facilitate regulatory collaboration and partnership in FinTech.
  • MAS and IFSCA will leverage existing regulatory sandboxes in their respective jurisdictions to support experimentation of technology innovations.

    • The MAS is Singapore’s central bank and integrated financial regulator.
    • It promotes sustained, non-inflationary economic growth through the conduct of monetary policy and close macroeconomic surveillance and analysis.
    • It manages Singapore’s official foreign reserves, exchange rate and liquidity in the banking sector.
  • About IFSCA:
    • IFSCA is India’s unified regulator for international financial services with a mandate to develop and promote India as a global financial hub.
    • It was established by the Government of India under the IFSCA Act 2019.

3. Federal Bank ranked 63rd in Best Workplaces in Asia 2022 by Great Place to Work

  • Federal Bank was ranked 63rd on the Best Workplaces in Asia 2022 and became the only bank in India to be listed by Great Place to Work, the global authority on workplace culture.

4. Linda Fruhvirtova defeats Magda Linette in 2022 WTA Chennai Open final

  • Czech teenager Linda Fruhvirtova fought back to beat No.3 seed, Magda Linette of Poland 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and win the Chennai Open WTA 250 title.
  • This was her 17-year-old’s first Tour title.
  • In the doubles, the top-seed Canadian-Brazilian pair of Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani hammered Anna Blinkova (Russia) and Natela Dzalamidze (Georgia) 6-1, 6-2 to claim the title.

5. Indian scientist and industrialist Swati Piramal awarded top French Honour

  • Swati Piramal, Vice Chairperson, Piramal Group has been conferred the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour).
  • The highest French civilian award comes in recognition of Piramal’s outstanding achievements and contribution in the fields of business and industry, science, medicine, art and culture, both nationally and internationally.

6. Govt launches diabetes drug Sitagliptin, its combinations at Rs 60 per pack

  • The government launched diabetes drug Sitagliptin and its combinations at rates as low as Rs 60 per pack of ten, which will be sold at generic pharmacy stores, Janaushadhi Kendras.
  • The Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) has included new variants of Sitagliptin and its combination across its Jan Aushdhi Kendras.

7. CSB Bank appoints Pralay Mondal as regular MD & CEO post

  • Kerala-based CSB Bank announced the appointment of Pralay Mondal as new Managing Director and CEO of the bank.
  • Mondal’s appointment is for a period of three years from September 15, 2022 up to September 14, 2025 in line with the approval of RBI.
  • Mondal held the position of interim Managing Director & CEO of the Bank with effect from April 1, 2022 till date.

8. NHRC chief elected as member of Asia Pacific Forum’s Governance Committee

  • NHRC chairperson justice (retd) Arun Kumar Mishra has been elected as a member of the Governance Committee of the Asia Pacific Forum (APF).
  • He has also been elected as a member of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) Bureau at the 27th Annual General Meeting of the APF.

9. Indian war vessel INS Tarkash takes part in Joint Maritime Exercise with Nigerian Navy

  • Indian Navy warship INS Tarkash, which is currently on mission deployed in the Gulf of Guinea (GoG), took part in a Joint Maritime Exercise with Nigerian Navy Patrol Ships, according to a statement by the Indian Navy.
  • The exercise marked India and Nigeria’s first joint operational deployment in support of anti-piracy operations in the GoG.

15. PM Modi unveils National Logistics Policy to drive up India’s exports

  • As per government’s estimates, the logistics costs account for 13-14% of India’s GDP, which the Centre targets to cut down to 8%.
  • This will allow companies to reduce costs and make products that can compete in the global market.
  • The commerce ministry released a draft logistics policy for consultation in 2019.

16. Yes Bank partners with NLDSL to develop use-cases on ULIP

  • Yes Bank announced that it has partnered with NICDC Logistics Data Services Limited (NLDSL) in order to develop use-cases to support corporate users in augmenting their supply chain on the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) under government’s new logistics policy.
  • The government will integrate around 17 digital systems from the seven ministries on ULIP.
