1. RBI devises 4-tier regulatory framework for Urban Cooperative Banks

  • RBI has stipulated a minimum net worth of Rs 2 crore for Tier 1 UCBs operating in single district and Rs 5 crore for all other UCBs (of all tiers).
  • The minimum CRAR requirement for Tier 1 banks is retained at the present prescription of 9% under current capital adequacy framework based on Basel-1 rules.
  • The RBI decision is based on the report submitted by NS Viswanathan Committee on UCBs.

2. 2, 877 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations sanctioned across country under Phase-2 of FAME India scheme

  • The government has sanctioned 2,877 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in 68 cities across 25 States and Union Territories under Phase-2 of FAME India scheme (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles).
  • The government has formulated the FAME India Scheme in 2015 to improve the infrastructure required for the large-scale use of electric vehicles.

3. Former Supreme Court judge Vineet Saran appointed BCCI ombudsman and ethics officer

  • The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed retired Supreme Court judge Justice Vineet Saran as the ombudsman and ethics officer.
  • The position has been lying vacant for more than a year after Justice (retired) DK Jain’s tenure ended in June, 2021.
  • In August, 2018, he was elevated as the judge of the Supreme Court, where he continued until his retirement.

4. Govt launched ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ in 272 most vulnerable districts since August 2020 to address problem of Drug Abuse

  • The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ in 272 most vulnerable districts since August 2020 to address the problem of Drug Abuse among youth of India.
  • Under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’, special emphasis is laid on the participation of stakeholders such as women, children, educational institutions and civil society organizatio.

5. Tamil Nadu, UP top in Smart City Fund utilisation

  • Tamil Nadu tops the list of states so far as utilisation of funds under the government’s flagship Smart City Mission is concerned.
  • While Tamil Nadu has spent over Rs 3932 crore out of the Rs 4333 crore released by the Centre, Uttar Pradesh is at second position with utilisation of Rs 2699 cr out of the Central share release of Rs 3142 crore.

6. Mexico tops the list, India on 36th rank out of 52 countries in Expat Insider Rankings for 2022

  • Mexico has topped the Expat Insider Rankings for 2022, which was released by the InterNations recently, while India has been ranked on 36th position out of the 52 countries on the list, with a high affordability score.
  • Indonesia is in the second spot while Taiwan, Portugal, Spain, UAE, Vietnam, Thailand, Australia, and Singapore are also among the top 10 countries.

7. SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft docks at International Space Station

  • A SpaceX Dragon resupply spacecraft carrying more than 5,800 pounds of science experiments, crew supplies, and other cargo is on its way to the International Space Station.
  • The spacecraft launched on a Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Pad 39A at Kennedy for the company’s 25th commercial resupply services mission for NASA.

11. Former captain of West Indies Ramdin retires from international cricket

  • Former West Indies captain, the wicketkeeper-batter Denesh Ramdin, has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect.
  • Having played 74 Tests, 139 ODIs, and 71 T20Is, Ramdin accumulated 5,734 international runs.

12. L&T Tech first to obtain captive 5G spectrum directly, deploy solutions globally for parent group

  • To build use cases on the technology, it will obtain spectrum to set up a 5G non-public network.
  • To deliver 5G automation services and speedy integration of open radio access network products, the company has entered into a partnership with network software provider Mavenir, with which they will go to market together.

  • The government said around 28 crore unorganised workers have been registered on e-Shram Portal.
  • In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Rameswar Teli said the government had launched e-Shram portal in August last year with an objective to create a national Database of unorganised workers.

14. Narinder Batra resigns as FIH, president; also quits as IOC member

  • Veteran sports administrator Narinder Batra resigned as President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and also gave up his membership of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
  • Batra became president of FIH in 2016 and reclaimed the position last year for a second term.
  • Batra became an IOC member in 2019.

16. NITI Aayog and WFP to Launch Initiative on Mainstreaming Millets in Asia and Africa

  • NITI Aayog and the World Food Programme (WFP), India, will launch the ‘Mapping and Exchange of Good Practices’ initiative for mainstreaming millets in Asia and Africa.
  • NITI and WFP will prepare a compendium of good practices for scaling up the production and consumption of millets in India and abroad.

17. Andhra Pradesh launches first-ever blackbuck survey on Godavari islands

  • The Andhra Pradesh State Wildlife Department has kick-started the first-ever survey of blackbucks along a stretch of islands in the Godavari between Dowleswaram and Yanam with the goal of drawing up a conservation plan to protect the endangered species.
  • The survey was mooted in the wake of scores of blackbucks getting stranded on the islands that have been hit by the Godavar.

18. MSME Minister Narayan Rane Launches ‘Mobile Electric Charging’ App

  • Union Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Narayan Rane launched ‘Repos Pay – a ‘Mobile Electric Charging’ platform and ‘Phy-gital’ – a Fintech Platform at ‘Fuelling India 2022’ event in Mumbai.
  • ‘Repos Pay’ is a platform where one can order a Mobile Electric Charging Vehicle on an app and charge their vehicles.

19. Centre forms Committee to strengthen MSP mechanism under chairmanship of Former Agriculture Secretary Sanjay Agrawal

  • The Centre has formed a Committee on Minimum Support Price under the chairmanship of Former Agriculture Secretary Sanjay Agrawal.
  • The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare The committee will look at ways to make available MSP to farmers by making the system more effective and transparent.
  • It will also suggest the practicality of giving more autonomy to CACP.
