1. India’s first ‘Migration Monitoring System’ inaugurated for information on migrant women in Mumbai

  • Country’s first ‘Migration Monitoring System’, which provides updated information on migrant pregnant women, lactating mothers and children instantly on a single system, was inaugurated in Mumbai.
  • The system developed by the Department of Women and Child Development.
  • The information of seasonal migrant women and children will be available immediately.

2. FATF removes Pakistan from ‘grey list’ after four years

  • The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has removed Pakistan from its grey list after four years.
  • This has adversely impacted Pakistan’s imports, exports, and remittances and limited its access to international lending.
  • Pakistan has been on the Paris-based watchdog’s grey list for deficiencies in its counter-terror financing and anti-money laundering.
  • What is FATF?
    • FATF is an intergovernmental organisation founded in 1989 on the initiative of the G7.
    • Main role of the organisation is – to develop policies to combat money laundering and to maintain certain interests, – to develop policies to combat money laundering and to maintain certain interests.

3. NAREDCO sets up finance committee to help builders procure funds from banks, NBFCs

  • National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), is an apex body formed under the aegis of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
  • The body has set up a committee that will enable member developers to easily access funds from banks and financial institutions based on merit and viability of the projects.

4. India 3rd in list of centi-millionaires, to overtake China by 2032

  • India ranks third in the world’s first-ever global study on the rise of centi-millionaires-individuals with assets of more than Rs 830 crore ($100 million), a new report has revealed.
  • Out of the world’s 25,490 centi-millionaires, India has 1,132, beating countries like the UK, Russia and Switzerland, in a swift growing and powerful class of super-rich tech titans,CEOs.

5. Interpol launches first global police metaverse during its 90th General Assembly in Delhi

  • Interpol launched the first ever metaverse specifically designed for law enforcement agencies worldwide during its 90th General Assembly in Delhi.
  • This “fully operational” Interpol Metaverse allows registered users to tour a virtual facsimile of the Interpol General Secretariat headquarters in Lyon, France without any geographical or physical boundaries.

6. Barbara Metcalf bags Sir Syed Excellence Award 2022

  • American historian and internationally acclaimed scholar of South Asian history and Islam, Barbara D Metcalf, received the Sir Syed Excellence International Award for 2022.
  • The annual award is given by the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on its founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s birth anniversary.
  • This year, AMU is marking the 205th anniversary of Sir Syed.

    • Her writing has contributed heavily to the understanding of the history of India and Pakistan’s Muslim population, especially during the colonial period.
    • She has also worked on the Tablighi Jama’at, the international Sunni missionary movement of religious reform that originated in the Indian subcontinent.

7. Union Minister Jitendra Singh launches integrated portal for pensioners

  • Union Minister of state for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh launched the Single Integrated Pensioners’ Portal.
  • The portal is – www.ipension.nic.in.
  • The portal is developed in collaboration with State Bank of India and aimed at ‘Ease of Living’ for the central government pensioners.
  • The portal has links to ‘Bhavishya’ – an end-to-end electronic processing of all retirement dues besides real-time tracking of pension processing files by retirees.
  • All remaining 16 pension disbursing banks shall now begin their integration with Bhavishya.

8. RBL Bank partners BookMyShow to launch ‘Play’ credit card

  • RBL Bank and BookMyShow have announced a partnership to launch a new ‘Play’ credit card.
  • Earlier in 2016, RBL Bank had partnered with BookMyShow for the launch of ‘Fun Plus’ credit card.
  • BookMyShow customers can purchase the ‘Play’ credit card for an annual fee of Rs 500, while loyalty programme Superstars can get the card at zero cost.

9. CCI finds Google guilty of abusing dominant position; Imposes Rs 1,337 crore penalty

  • The Competition Commission of India has found Google guilty of abusing its dominance in the Android mobile device ecosystem, and online search market.
  • The regulator has imposed a penalty of Rs 1,377 crore on the global tech giant and also directed to cease and desist from indulging in anti-competitive behaviour.

12. PhonePe launches green data center with Dell Technologies and NTT

  • The 4.8-megawatt facility, which occupies 13,740 sq ft at Mahape, Navi Mumbai, is built and designed with advanced alternative cooling technologies like Direct Contact Liquid Cooling (DCLC) and Liquid Immersion Cooling (LIC).
  • This is also PhonePe’s first green data centre in India which will help fintech reduce its carbon emissions and meet sustainability goals.

13. Tazuni unveiled as mascot for 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup

  • Penguin Tazuni has been unveiled as the official mascot of next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

14. PFC, REC sign pact to finance 1,320 MW coal-fired power plant in Bihar

  • Power Finance Corporation (PFC) and Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) signed a Memorandum of Loan Agreement (MoA) with SJVN Thermal Private Ltd (STPL) to finance the 1,320 MW coal-based Buxar Thermal Power Plant (BTPP) in Bihar, even as its project cost increased by at least Rs 1,733 crore in over three years.

15. Asia’s largest BioGas Plant inaugurated in Sangrur, to prevent stubble burning in 45,000 acres

  • Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated Asia’s largest Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plant in Sangrur, Punjab.
  • The plant has been commissioned with a Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of Rs 220 crore by Verbio AG, one of Germany’s leading Bio-energy companies.
