1. Sanjeev Sanyal appointed full-time member of Economic Advisory Council to PM
- Noted economist and historian Sanjeev Sanyal has been inducted as a full-time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM), the panel’s chairman Bibek Debroy announced.
- In 2007, Sanyal was awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship for his work on urban issues and was also honoured by the Singapore government at the World Cities Summit 2014.
2. Supreme Court Appointed Panel Submits Interim Report in Pegasus Snooping Case
- A technical committee headed by Justice RV Raveendran, which was set up to look into the allegations of the government allegedly using Israeli software Pegasus to spy on politicians, activists, and journalists.
- The committee has submitted its interim report in the Supreme Court.
3. HDFC Bank finances Asia’s largest waste to energy plant in Indore
- HDFC Bank under its ESG commitment is proud to be associated with Indore Clean Energy Private Limited (ICEPL) for the development of 550 tonnes / day of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) to Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant – the largest Bio-CNG plant in Asia.
- This is the largest waste to energy project funded by HDFC Bank under its ESG commitments.
4. ‘A Nation To Protect’ Documents India’s COVID-19 Journey, How PM Lead Keeping Nation First
- Priyam Gandhi-Mody, in her book ‘A Nation to Protect : Leading India through the Covid crisis’, has described how India battled and emerged from the deadly crisis under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

5. IIT UAE: New IIT to be set in UAE as part of trade deal – first ever Institute of national importance outside India
- India has announced to set up the first Indian Institute of Technology, IIT in Dubai as a part of India-UAE trade deal.
- This will be the first time when India’s premier institute, IIT will be set up in a foreign country.
- IITs are the national institute of India and presently there are 23 IITs in the country.
6. Government Approves Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) Scheme To Continue Till 31st March, 2026
- Government has approved the scheme of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) for continuation till 31.03.2026 or till further review, whichever is earlier.
- The proposal entails an expenditure of Rs. 12929.16 crore out of which Central Share is Rs. 8120.97 crores and the State Share is of Rs. 4808.19 crores.
7. Norway tops Beijing 2022 medal table after record-breaking performance
- Norway topped the medal table at the Winter Olympics with a record-breaking performance in Beijing to cement their dominance in winter sports.
- Their gold medal haul of 16 represents the most ever won at a single Winter Games.
- In total, Norway won 16 gold, eight silver and 13 bronze medals.
- Germany finished second in the medal table with 12 gold, 10 silver and five bronze.
8. ‘History of Sriniketan’: Book throws light on Rabindranath Tagore’s work for rural reconstruction
- A new book explores Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s work for rural reconstruction by setting up ‘Sriniketan’, a wing of his Visva Bharati International University at Santiniketan in 1922.
- The book, “A History of Sriniketan : Rabindranath Tagore’s Pioneering Work in Rural Construction”, is written by historian and Tagore biographer Uma Das Gupta.
- It is published under Niyogi Book’s ‘Paper Missile’ imprint.
9. 100 districts in the country become ‘Har Ghar Jal’ under Jal Jeevan Mission
- Jal Jeevan Mission achieved another milestone of providing tap water to every home of 100 districts in the country.
- As per the ministry, Chamba, an Aspirational District of Himachal Pradesh has become the 100th ‘Har Ghar Jal’ District.
- The motto of the Jal Jeevan Mission is ‘no one is left out’.

- Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) has announced a collaboration with tech giant Google for local startups to connect with the global startup community.

12. Gandhian social worker & freedom fighter Shakuntala Choudhary passes away
- Shakuntala Choudhary, the 102-year-old Gandhian social worker and freedom fighter, passed away this morning in Guwahati.
- Hailing from Assam’s Kamrup, she worked for the wellbeing of villagers, especially women and children, and was popularly known as Shakuntala Baideo.
- She was named a Padma Shri award recipient by the Government of India, this year.
13. Piyush Goyal plans for Commerce Ministry to get $2 trillion exports by 2027
- The Department of Commerce is set to undergo transformative changes towards evolving into a ‘future ready’ establishment of the Government with scaling up, strengthening, & infusion of ‘new age’ capabilities leading to an ecosystem which can achieve USD 2 trillion exports by 2027.
14. Burkina Faso military leader Damiba to be sworn in as country’s president
- Burkina Faso military leader Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba is due to be sworn in as the country’s president, just over two weeks after soldiers ousted President Roch Kaboré in a coup.
- Last week, the Constitutional Council, having taken note of Mr Kaboré’s resignation, declared Mr Damiba, a 41-year-old army officer, president of Burkina Faso.
