1. Shashank Goel appointed as Additional Secretary in Labor and Employment Ministry
- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shashank Goel as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
- He is an IAS of 90 batch.
- Shailesh Kumar Singh, IAS of 91 batch has been appointed as Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
2. HAL Signs Contract for Export of ALH to Mauritius
- HAL signed a contract with Govt. of Mauritius for export of one Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH Mk III) for Mauritius Police Force.
- HAL = Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
- It is a part of the government’s vision to boost defence exports to friendly foreign countries.
- The Govt. of Mauritius already operates HAL built ALH and Do-228 aircraft.
3. Over 76500 ‘Agri Nutri Gardens’ established under Agri Nutri Garden Week
- Over 76 thousand 500 ‘Agri Nutri Gardens’ have been established under the ‘Agri Nutri Garden Week’.

- Coal Secretary Dr. Anil Kumar Jain launched Koyla Darpan Portal to share Key Performance Indicators related to the Coal Sector.
- The portal will have the Key Performance Indicators related to Coal Production, Status of Coal Stock in Thermal Power Plants, Allocation of Blocks, Monitoring of Major Coal Mines and Coal Price.

- The Amar Jawan Jyoti flame at India Gate has been merged with the flame at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.

- Till the work for the statue is completed, a hologram statue of Netaji will be present at the same place.

8. Indian-origin scientist, Dr Sriram Subramaniam among UBC researchers unveil world’s 1st molecular-level analysis of Omicron
- A team of researchers has become the first in the world to conduct a molecular-level structural analysis of the Omicron spike protein.
- The findings show strong antibody evasion and binding with human cells.
- The cells contribute to increased transmissibility, and that vaccination remains the best defence, the university said.
- Spike protein helps the virus enter and infect cells.
- Omicron was first identified in South Africa and Botswana in November 2021.

- The optimal hedge ratio for the ECBs raised by firms in India is estimated at 63% for the periods of high volatility in the forex market, as per a RBI Working Paper.

11. India Ratings sees FY23 GDP growth at 7.6% on sustained govt spending
- India Ratings & Research (Ind-Ra) expects gross domestic product (GDP) to grow 7.6 per cent in fiscal year 2022-23 (FY23), helped partly by continued government spending and a favourable global trade outlook.
- The ratings agency estimates investments, as measured by gross fixed capital formation (GFCF), to grow 8.7 per cent YoY in FY23.
- The real GDP in FY23 will be 9.1 percent higher than the FY20 (pre-Covid level) GDP level.
