1. Government of India’s flagship programme ‘Make in India’ completes 8 years

• The Government’s flagship programme ‘Make in India’ completes eight-year on 25th September 2022.
• Make in India initiative which was launched in 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

2. Sanjai Kumar appointed as new Chairman & MD of Railtel

• Sanjai Kumar has taken charge as the Chairman & Managing Director of RailTel Corporation of India Limited, a PSU which provides broadband, VPN and other communication services for Indian Railways.
• VPN = Virtual Private Network.

3. BPCL signs MoU with Brazilian oil company Petrobras to diversify crude oil sourcing

• The MoU was signed by Arun Kumar Singh, Chairman BPCL and Caio Paes de Andrade, CEO Petrobras, in Brazil.
• Through its fully owned subsidiary, Bharat PetroResources Limited, BPCL has a stake in the upstream sector in an ultra-deep water hydrocarbon block in Brazil, owned and operated by M/s Petrobras.

4. 5 major palm oil importers from Asia form alliance

• The apex edible oil industry associations from five major palm oil importing countries of Asia – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal – have come together to form the Asian Palm Oil Alliance (APOA), at the instance of Solidaridad Network, a specialist in sustainable agriculture.
• APOA was launched during the Globoil Summit at Agra in September 2022.

5. Author-poet Meena Kandasamy wins the German PEN award

• Indian activist-author-poet Meena Kandasamy has been announced as the recipient of the Hermann Kesten Award 2022, which is given by the PEN Centre in Darmstadt, Germany.
• The award is given to Kandasamy in honour and recognition of her support for the rights of victimized writers.
• About the PEN award:
  • Started in 1985, the award was initially given once in two years till 1993; since 1994 it is being given annually.

6. Amazon setting up its first solar project in India

• Amazon announced the setting up of its first solar farm in India.
• The e-commerce major will be setting up three solar power projects with a capacity of 420 megawatt (MW) in Rajasthan.
• These would include a 210 MW project to be developed by ReNew Power, a 100 MW project to be developed by Amp Energy India, and a 110 MW project to be developed by Brookfield Renewable Partners.

7. Indian Railways installs ISRO-developed RTIS system for real-time train tracking

• Real Time Information System (RTIS), developed in collaboration with ISRO, is being installed on the locomotives for automatic acquisition of train movement timing at the stations, including that of arrival & departure or run-through.
• They get automatically plotted on the control chart of those trains in the Control Office Application (COA) system.

8. Four lakh 37 thousand Poshan Vatikas set up by Anganwadi Centres across country under Poshan Maah 2022

• The government has said that four lakh 37 thousand Anganwadi Centres have set up Poshan Vatikas.
• The Women and Child Development Ministry said, Poshan Vatikas or Nutri- gardens are being set up across the country to provide easy and affordable access to fruits, vegetables, medicinal plants, and herbs.
• About Poshan Maah:
  • It is a Government of India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for pregnant women, lactating mothers and children under 6 years of age.

9. India announces the launch of the “Innovation Roadmap of the Mission Integrated Biorefineries”

• India has announced the launch of the “Innovation Roadmap of the Mission Integrated Biorefineries” developed by co-leads and active inputs from Brazil, Canada, EC and the UK.
• The Mission aims at greater international collaboration and the need for increased financing for Energy Research, Development, and Demonstration during the next five years to kickstart this objective and unleash a virtuous cycle of public and private investment.

10. UNEP signs MoU with NCC to curb plastic pollution

• The aim is to achieve the universal goal of clean water bodies through ‘Puneet Sagar Abhiyan’ and ‘Tide Turners Plastic Challenge programme’.
• The NCC had, on Dec 1, 2021, launched ‘Puneet Sagar Abhiyan’, a nationwide flagship campaign, initially for 1 month, to clean sea shores of plastic & other waste material, while raising awareness about the importance of cleanliness.

• The Government of India has launched a Scheme Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment for 2022-23.
• Under this Scheme, financial assistance is provided to the States Governments in the form of 50-year interest free loan for capital investment projects.

12. India’s APEDA exports first consignment of plant-based meat products from Gujarat to US

• India has exported the first consignment of plant-based meat products from Nadiad in the Kheda district of Gujarat to California in the United States.
• In a move to boost exports of unique agricultural processed food products, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Authority (APEDA) facilitated the export of the first consignment under the Vegan Food category.

• He took over as CEO from former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) executive Abhaya Prasad Hota in 2018.
