1. World NGO Day 2022

• World NGO Day is observed every year on February 27 to celebrate the work and contribution of various NGOs all over the world.
• The day aims to inspire people to become actively involved with NGOs, whether in public sectors or the private sectors and to educate people about NGOs, their importance and impact. 

2. Harmanpreet Kaur will be India’s vice-captain in World Cup: Mithali Raj

• India skipper Mithali Raj on Saturday confirmed that Harmanpreet Kaur will serve as her deputy in the upcoming Women’s 50-over World Cup.
• In the last two ODIs against New Zealand, Deepti Sharma donned the hat of vice-captain.
• Harmanpreet did not play the fourth ODI, while she did make a comeback in the final ODI, Deepti stayed on as the vice-captain.

3. World Bank’s India head Junaid Ahmad appointed vice president of operations

• The World Bank’s India head Junaid Kamal Ahmad has been appointed as a Vice President of the international lending institution.
• Ahmad, who as Vice President, Operations would head the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), is only the second Bangladeshi national to be appointed to such a high position in the history of the bank.

4. Devayatanam: An odyssey of Indian temple architecture

• Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy inaugurated Devayatanam, a conference on temple architecture of India, at Hampi, Karnataka.
• He also released a booklet consisting of 75 glorious temples from across India.
• Devayatanam aims to highlight the architectures of Indian temples.
• The two day international conference is being organized by the Archaeological Survey of India.

5. India’s overall ranking on IP protection improves, says USCC report

• India has improved its overall IP score from 4 percent to 38.6 percent, and the country is ranked 43 out of 55 countries on the International Intellectual Property Index, according to an annual report compiled by the influential US Chambers of Commerce.

6. Union Minister Narayan Rane launches MSME RuPay Credit Card

• Union Minister for MSME, Narayan Rane announced establishment of MSME-Technology Centre at Sindhudurg and launched the MSME RuPay Credit Card.
• The MSME-Technology Center to be set up at Sindhudurg at a cost of about Rs 200 crore will enhance the competitiveness of MSME industries.

7. Education Ministry launches Bhasha Certificate Selfie campaign

• The Ministry of Education has launched a Bhasha Certificate Selfie Campaign to encourage cultural diversity and promote multilingualism and to foster the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
• Bhasha Certificate Selfie initiative aims to promote Bhasha Sangam mobile app, developed by the Ministry of Education and MyGov India.

8. India, Japan to hold joint military exercise in Karnataka from Feb 27-Mar 10

• A joint military exercise, EX DHARMA GUARDIAN-2022, between India and Japan will be conducted at Foreign Training Node, Belagavi in Karnataka from 27th February to 10th of March.
• Exercise DHARMA GUARDIAN is an annual training event which is being conducted in India since 2018.
• Notably, in the series of military training exercises undertaken by India with various countries.

10. Bharti Airtel acquires strategic stake in Singapore-based blockchain technology start-up Aqilliz

• Bharti Airtel has acquired a strategic investment in Aqilliz, a blockchain technology startup, the telecom service provider.
• According to Airtel, Singapore-based Aqilliz has developed Atom, a patented hybrid blockchain platform that mixes differential privacy and federated learning on a distributed digital ledger.

11. BharatPe terminates head of controls Madhuri Jain Grover’s services

• Weeks after being sent on leave the services of Madhuri Jain Grover, head of controls of BharatPe and wife of founder Ashneer Grover, have been terminated by the company on allegations of misappropriation of funds, according to sources privy to the development.

12. J&K admin sets target to harness hydropower potential to make UT power surplus

• The Jammu and Kashmir administration has set a target to harness the region’s hydropower potential to make the Union territory power surplus in the next five years.
• He added that among the priorities in this regard was tapping the 20,000-megawatt (MW) power potential of the region.
• In the past 70 years, only 3,500 MW out of the potential of 20,000 MW had been harnessed in J&K.

• Union Steel Minister, Shri Ram Chandra Prasad Singh will chair ‘Conference with Mines and Industry Ministers’ of mineral rich states of the country at Konark, Odisha between 25-26 February, 2022.

17. Greater Noida Authority gets Centre’s nod to start Aadhaar authentication online

• The Greater Noida Authority has become the first in Uttar Pradesh to get permission for carrying out the Aadhaar authentication of its allottees online.
• Once officially rolled out, the facility will allow allottees to avail all property-related services online.
• The new initiative would allow the Authority to verify the identities of beneficiaries & reduce the frauds.

18. India’s biggest wrestling academy to be set up by Railways in Delhi

• The Indian Railways will soon set up the country’s biggest world-class academy, exclusively for wrestlers in railways, with all the best sports facilities at Kishanganj locality in Delhi.
• An estimated cost of Rs 30.76 crore for its establishment has already been sanctioned by the railway.
