1. Bharti Airtel to acquire 4.7% stake of Vodafone in Indus Towers

  • Bharti Airtel has entered into an agreement to buy 7 percent stake in Indus Towers from Vodafone Plc, the former said in an exchange filing recently.
  • The transaction will be done on the principal condition that the amount paid shall be inducted by Vodafone as fresh equity in Vodafone Idea Limited and simultaneously remitted to Indus Towers to clear VIL’s outstanding dues.

2. Rakesh Sharma again appointed as MD & CEO of IDBI Bank

  • Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI Bank) has informed the stock exchanges that its board has approved the reappointment of Rakesh Sharma as the managing director and chief executive officer of the bank for a period of three years.
  • The appointment will be effective from March 19, 2022.
  • Sharma’s reappointment as the MD & CEO of the bank has received the banking regulator RBI’s nod.

3. Brickworks Ratings lowers India’s GDP to 8.3% in FY22

  • Brickworks Ratings has revised downwards India’s GDP growth forecast to 3 per cent in the current fiscal 2021-22 (FY22).
  • Earlier in January 2022, the rating agency had estimated this between 5-9 per cent.
  • Brickwork Ratings is one of the seven Sebi-registered credit rating agencies (CRA).

4. Mirabai Chanu wins gold at Singapore Weightlifting International

  • Indian weightlifter and 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver-medallist, Mirabai Chanuhas won the gold medal in the 55kg weight category at the Singapore Weightlifting International 2022 on February 25, 2022.
  • Chanu lifted 191kg (86kg+105kg) to stand on top of the podium.

5. Rs 200 crore MSME Technology Centre to be set up in Sindhudurg

  • Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Shri Narayan Rane today announced the establishment of MSME – Technology Centre with an outlay of Rs. 200 Crore, in Sindhudurg.
  • The MSME – Technology Centre will provide the best of technology, incubation as well as advisory support to the industry, especially MSMEs, to enhance their competitiveness and provide skilling services for the employed and unemployed youth of the area to enhance their employability.

6. Northern Arc Group to acquire SMILE Microfinance

  • Northern Arc Group to acquire the microfinance business of S.M.I.L.E. Microfinance Ltd on slump sale basis to strengthen its retail finance business.
  • The transaction will involve the takeover of the microfinance portfolio of S.M.I.L.E., along with its network of nearly 150 branches catering to over2 million customers.

7. Dish TV’s ropes Rishabh Pant as its brand ambassador

  • Dish TV India, has announced the appointment of Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant as brand ambassador.
  • Pant will feature in the brand’s 360-degree communication for the next two years.
  • This investment in the D2H brand is going to make it even stronger.
  • The close affinity between D2H brand and Rishabh Pant as brand ambassadors will enable deeper engagement of D2H with its TG.

8. Bikaji Foods International files draft papers with SEBI to raise funds via IPO

  • Bikaji Foods International Ltd has filed a draft papers with Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to raise funds via initial public offering.
  • The Initial public offering (IPO) consists of a pure offer for sale of upto 29.37 million shares by its existing promoters and shareholders.

9. Dr. K. N. Raghavan, head of India’s Rubber Board elected Chairperson of IRSG for next 2 years

  • The Secretariat of IRSG (International Rubber Study Group), the intergovernmental organization of natural rubber (NR) and synthetic rubber (SR) producing and consuming countries, has announced the election of Dr. K. N. Raghavan, Executive Director, Rubber Board of India as the new Chairperson of the IRSG Heads of Delegation.
  • Raghavan will officiate as Chairman of the group for the next two years.
  • He will preside over the meeting of the heads of delegation scheduled for March 31 at Singapore.

10. EXERCISE EASTERN BRIDGE -VI AT AIR FORCE STATION JODHPUR

  • Indo-Oman exercise, Eastern Bridge-VI (2022) was successfully conducted at Air Force Station Jodhpur from 21 to 25 February 2022.
  • Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) participated with Indian Air Force (lAF) in the exercise which was aimed at providing operational exposure and undertaking mutual exchange of best practices, towards enhancing operational capabilities.

11. Assam Govt Collaborates With IIT Madras, Launches India’s First Night Navigation Mobile App In Rivers

  • The Assam government launched the country’s first night navigation mobile application in rivers for ferries on the Brahmaputra river.
  • The transport department developed the night navigation mobile application in association with the principal scientist of IIT Madras K Raju and will survey the draft of the rivers.

12. Philanthropist Bill Gates conferred Hilal-e-Pakistan honour for efforts to eradicate polio

  • Microsoft founder and philanthropist Bill Gates has been conferred with Hilal-e-Pakistan, the second highest civilian honour in the country, for his efforts to help eradicate polio in Pakistan.
  • Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has been a major contributor in worldwide polio eradication through Gavi, the vaccine alliance.
  • Pakistan’s highest civilian award : Nishan-e-Pakistan.
