1. PM Modi lays foundation stone of world’s first CNG terminal and of the brownfield port at Bhavnagar, Gujarat

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the world’s first CNG terminal at Bhavnagar.
  • The Foresight Group had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) for the development of the CNG Terminal in Gujarat during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Business Summit 2019.
  • CNG = Compressed Natural Gas.

2. Centre Appoints senior advocate R Venkataramani as new Attorney General of India

  • Senior advocate R Venkataramani has been appointed as the new Attorney General of India for a period of three years, by the honourable President of India.
  • He will succeed KK Venugopal after the latter’s term ends on September 30.

    • R Venkataramani is the 16th Attorney General of India (AG).
    • The Attorney General is the Government of India’s first law officer, and has the right of audience in all courts of the country.

3. Zerodha’s Nikhil Kamath tops IIFL Wealth Hurun India 40 & Under Self-Made Rich List 2022

  • Nikhil Kamath, the co-founder of Zerodha, topped the ‘IIFL Wealth Hurun India 40 & Under Self-Made Rich List 2022’ with a net worth of Rs 17,500 crore.
  • Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder of Ola, came in second place (Rs 11,700 crore), and Divyank Turakhia of Media.net in third place (Rs 11,200 crore).

4. Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani only Indian in TIME100 Next list of leaders

  • Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani, son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has been named in the Time100 Next — the magazine’s list of the world’s rising stars.
  • Significantly, he is the only Indian on the list.
  • However, there is another Indian-born American business leader, Amrapali Gan, also on the list.

5. Indian firms sign MoU with Canada’s Canpotex for long-term stability of fertilisers

  • Canpotex is acclaimed as one of the largest potash suppliers globally.
  • Indian companies Coromandel International, Chambal Fertilisers and Indian Potash Limited signed the MoU.
  • As per the understanding, Canpotex will supply up to 15 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT) of potash annually for three years.
  • Canpotex, Canada, exports around 130 LMT of the product annually.

6. International Aviation body ICAO signs pact with International Solar Alliance

  • The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to check the growth of CO2 emissions in the sector, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said.
  • Salvatore Sciacchitano is the sixth and current President of the ICAO.

7. Swedish defence firm Saab plans to manufacture Carl-Gustaf M4 Rocket Launchers In India

  • Swedish defence company Saab has announced its decision to set up a production facility in India for its Carl-Gustaf M4 shoulder-fired weapon system.
  • The M4 is one of the world’s most popular pieces of military equipment utilised primarily by the Special Forces (SF).
  • Carl-Gustaf was first inducted into the Indian Army in 1976.

8. HAL, Honeywell sign MoU to jointly make high-power turbogenerators

  • Defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Honeywell signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly manufacture high-power, high-voltage turbogenerators.
  • The Honeywell turbogenerator is capable of running on aviation biofuel, including green jet fuel as well as conventional jet fuel and diesel.

9. World Bank and SIDBI to launch fund against loan default to lenders financing purchase of electric 2 & 3 Wheelers

  • The government, World Bank and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) are set to launch a $1 billion fund to provide guarantees against loan default to lenders financing the purchase of electric two- and three-wheelers.
  • The Niti Aayog is the facilitating agency for the project, aimed at facilitating faster and easier financing of electric vehicles.

10. HAL’s rocket engine manufacturing facility inaugurated in Karnataka

  • An Integrated Cryogenic Engine Manufacturing Facility (ICMF) set up by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) that would cater to the entire rocket engine production under one roof for Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu.
  • On that occasion, the President also laid the foundation stone for the Zonal Institute of Virology (South Zone).

11. NASA’s DART Mission hits asteroid in first-ever planetary defense test

  • NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART), the world’s first planetary defense technology demonstration, successfully impacted its asteroid target, the agency’s first attempt to move an asteroid in space.
  • DART targeted the asteroid moonlet Dimorphos, a small body just 530 feet (160 meters) in diameter.
  • It orbits a larger (2,560-foot/780-meter) asteroid called Didymos.

  • Union Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated and addressed the 13th FICCI Global Skills Summit 2022 on the theme of “Education to Employability – Making It Happen.” in New Delhi.

13. Legendary actress Asha Parekh to be honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award

  • The Information & Broadcasting Ministry announced that the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2020 will be presented to Asha Parekh.
  • The award will be presented at the National Film Award ceremony in New Delhi.
  • The Minister also announced that the 68 th National Film Awards will be held on September 30, 2022 and will be presided over by the President Droupadi Murmu.

14. India calls for BRICS to work towards affordable scientific solutions for common challenges

  • Addressing the 10th BRICS meet of science and technology ministers, Sh. Jitendra Singh said there were several areas where the people in the BRICS nations directly benefited from “our mutual cooperation such as establishment of a vaccine R&D centre, BRICS Network University, establishment of shared satellite constellation , and mutual recognition of pharma products”.

15. Debt marketplace Yubi partners with SBI to enable co-lending to priority sectors

  • Corporate debt solution company Yubi announced a partnership with the country’s largest bank State Bank of India (SBI) for the latter to integrate with its co-lending marketplace Yubi Co.Lend for credit to the priority sectors including small businesses.
  • Co-lending as a model is expected to help address the challenge of lack of credit access faced by a number of MSMEs.
