1. RBI working to prepare a registry to blacklist fraudsters with their IP addresses, locations, and phone numbers
- The Reserve Bank of India is working on a new “fraud registry” — a reporting mechanism under which data shared by banks with RBI on fraudsters will enable the regulator to blacklist such callers.
- The new reporting mechanism will carry details of IP addresses, locations and telephone numbers — reported by banks to RBI — of perpetrators defrauding bank customers repeatedly.
- What is an Internet Protocol (IP) address?
- It is a numerical label such as 192.168.225.5, that is connected to a computer network that uses the IP for communication.
2. Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games begin in Rajasthan, nearly 30 lakh people to participate
- Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot inaugurated month-long Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games, for which around 30 lakh villagers have registered.
- Games like volleyball, hockey, tennis ball cricket and kho kho will be part of the events
- The rural olympics organised in eleven thousand gram panchayats across the state is an outreach to the rural population, especially the rural youth.

3. World Championships: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty claim India’s first men’s doubles medal
- India finished with one medal at the badminton championships.
- The Indian men’s doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy won the bronze medal after going down in the semi-finals of the BWF World Championships 2022 against Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in Tokyo.

- The Indian life insurance industry grew at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11%, in terms of total premium and 17% in terms of new business premium, during 2017-22, according to a report by Benori Knowledge.

- The registration process of new companies has been eased by substantially reducing the time taken to process new applications from 6-8 months to two.

8. PM Modi lays foundations stones for Maruti Suzuki’s new plants in Gujarat and Haryana
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Maruti Suzuki Vehicle Manufacturing Facility for Haryana and Suzuki EV Battery Plant for Hansalpur in Gujarat.
- The Suzuki Motor Gujarat Electric Vehicle Battery Manufacturing Facility at Hansalpur, will be set-up with an investment of around Rs 7,300 crores to manufacture Advance Chemistry Cell batteries for EV.

- Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana PMJDY, the National Mission for Financial Inclusion completed eight years of successful implementation on August 28th.
- More than 46.25 crore beneficiaries banked under PMJDY since inception, amounting to over one lakh 73 thousand crore rupees.
- PMJDY Accounts grew from 14.72 crore in March 2015 to 46.25 crore as on the 10th of August 2022.

11. Essar Group signs Rs 19,000 crores with ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel to sell ports, infra assets
- ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, announced that it had reached a definitive agreement to acquire ports, power plants, and other logistics and infrastructure assets from the Essar group for a net value of about $2.4 billion (Rs 19,000 crore).
12. RBI makes public inspection report of City Union Bank under Right to Information (RTI) Act
- During its inspection, the RBI team observed that City Union Bank has a separate loan product for pawnbrokers.
- The Supreme Court on April 26, 2019 had made clear that the RBI was “duty bound to furnish all information relating to inspection reports and other material” under the RTI Act except those which pertained to “matters of national economic interest”.
