1. Independence Day USA
- Independence Day USA is celebrated every year on 4 July.
- United States Independence Day is also known as the Fourth of July or the Fourth.
- This day commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on 4 July, 1776 from the Kingdom of Great Britain.
2. Indian Railways claims 100% punctuality record for first time in history
- Indian Railways claimed it has achieved 100% punctuality rate for the “first time in its history” on July 1.
- However, it should be noted that 230 trains are running which is less than 2% of the 13,000 trains that normally run on the railway network.
- Previous best was 99.54% on the 23rd of June.

4. Unique Urban Forest inaugurated at the Office of the CAG in New Delhi
- Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar inaugurated the urban forest at the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) Office Park in New Delhi.
- The objective is to reduce high air pollution levels particularly at the ITO Crossing.

5. HRD Minister, Sports Minister to launch ‘Fit India Talks’ to inspire school children

6. Karnataka govt launches portal to connect job seekers and employers
- Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa launched ‘Skill Connect Forum’, a portal that connects job seekers with employers on a common platform.
- The portal provides information on available jobs.
- An unemployed person will be imparted a skill & then enabled to get a job.
- It is also trying to introduce amendments to key labour laws.
7. MP: Yellow dustbins for only corona residual in Indore
- In Madhya Pradesh to prevent corona infection, Indore Municipal Corporation is placing Yellow colour dustbins at all major places in the city.
- It is the third dustbin apart from blue & green colours dustbins & being placed for only corona infected material.
- It is seen as a good scheme for public health.
8. 46 million girls went missing in India, says UNFPA report
- One in three girls missing globally due to sex selection, both pre and postnatal, is from India -46 million out of the total 142 million, according to the UNFPA’s State of the World Population 2020 report released.
- The number of missing women has doubled.
- 1 in 9 females below 5 years die due to postnatal sex selection.
9. Goa govt allots land to MSME consortium to set up India’s first Maritime Cluster
- Goa govt allotted land to the consortium of 49 Goan MSME units for setting up Goa Maritime Cluster to create facilities for shipbuilding.
- The project, which is first Maritime Cluster of India, is supported by shipping ministry, DG of Shipping, and MSMEs.

10. Tamil Nadu announces monthly Rs 3,000 stipend for lawyers to overcome financial difficulties
- Tamil Nadu government announced a monthly stipend of 3,000 rupees to junior lawyers for two years to help them overcome financial difficulties under the Advocates Welfare Scheme.
- The stipend has been a longstanding demand of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu.
- Aims to prevent young advocates from migrating to other jobs.
11. Former RBI Governor C. Rangarajan gets Mahala Nobis award
- Former Reserve Bank of India Governor C. Rangarajan has been conferred the P.C. Mahala Nobis Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contribution to official statistics.
- He also held the post of chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the PM.
- He was given the award on the Statistics Day on June 29.
12. Bollywood Choreographer Saroj Khan Dies At 71
- Veteran Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan, who mentored generations of actors and was fondly known as “Masterji”, died due to cardiac arrest.
- The three-time National Award winner choreographed some of the most memorable songs in Hindi cinema.
- She was 71.
- She last choreographed for Tabaah hogaye from Kalank.
