4. NLC India, CIL sign pact to form JV to develop 5,000 MW solar, thermal power assets
  • NLC India has signed a pact with state-owned CIL to form a joint venture to develop 5,000 MW of solar and thermal power assets across the country.
  • Equity participation in the proposed JV between Coal India Ltd & NLC India will be in the ratio of 50:50.
  • NCL = Northern Coalfields Limited.

5. Bharat Bond ETF second tranche launched, base issue size of Rs 3,000 cr
  • Edelweiss Mutual Fund launched the second tranche of the Bharat Bond exchange-traded fund for a base size of Rs 3,000 cr.
  • Finance Minister N Sitharaman had announced the launch of 2nd tranche with Edelweiss as the fund manager & AK Capital as govt advisor.
  • The new Bharat Bond ETF series will mature in April 2025 & 2031.

6. RBI asks banks to reclassify MSMEs as per revised criteria
  • The classification would be on the basis of Govt notified new criteria for the classification of MSMEs on the basis of turnover and investment in plant & machinery.

  • The Rs 450 cr MOM mission aims at studying the Martian surface & mineral composition as well as scan its atmosphere for methane.

9. Chinese badminton superstar Lin Dan announces retirement
  • China’s two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan aged 36, arguably the greatest badminton player of all time, announced his retirement.
  • It means that Lin will not compete at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
  • He won gold at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Games,
  • Lin earned the nickname “Super Dan” at the peak of his career.

10. Germany to become first major economy to phase out coal, nuclear power
  • Germany has decided to phase-out of coal as an energy source.
  • Bills approved by both houses of parliament envision shutting down the last coal-fired power plant by 2038 & spend 40 bn euros for transition.
