- The Appointments Committee of the cabinet cleared appointments of senior IAS officers Rajiv Topno senior advisor to World Bank.
- Brajendra Navnit will be senior advisor to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

2. Former MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar Appointed as India’s Next Ambassador to Finland
- The current Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Raveesh Kumar has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Finland.
- He has served as the official spokesperson of the MEA.

5. India pledges USD 15 million to global vaccines alliance, Gavi
- PM Modi pledged USD 15-million as India’s contribution to the vaccine’s alliance GAVI at the Global Vaccine Summit hosted by the UK.
- GAVI = Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation.
- It was to urge nations around the world to pledge to fund for vaccinations to protect the world from outbreaks of diseases.
- The UK is the largest contributor with 1.65 billion pounds.
6. Tata AIG launches telematics-based motor insurance to save premiums
- Tata AIG General Insurance launched usage-based insurance (UBI) private car policy for car owners under the IRDAI’s Regulatory Sandbox.
- It will be available on all policies offering personal accidental cover to the tune of Rs 15 lakhs for owner and driver.
- The company also bought ‘Auto-Safe’, a GPS enabled device.
7. Facebook signs a global licensing deal with music label Saregama
- Facebook has struck a global licensing deal with Saregama to bolster the library of its music products across its flagship social networking platform and Instagram.
- Through this partnership, the users will be able to add songs to their Facebook profile.
- Saregama claims to offer songs in over 25 languages.
8. Facebook floats ‘Jaadhu Holdings’ to do business with Jio

9. CCI approves proposed merger between Peugeot S.A and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V.
- Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves merger between Peugeot SA (PSA) and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).
- PSA is a publicly listed limited liability company incorporated in France.
- FCA is a public company with limited liability headquartered in London.
- CCI Chairperson: Ashok Kumar Gupta.
10. India, Bhutan sign MoU on environment cooperation
- The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved a memorandum of understanding between India and Bhutan.
- For environment protection and cooperation in the areas concerning air quality, waste, chemical management and climate change.
- The MoU will remain in force for a period of 10 years.

- Filmmaker-screenwriter Basu Chatterjee, passed away in Mumbai, following age-related ailments.
