1. Delhi High Court Chief Justice DN Patel to be next TDSAT chairperson

  • The Central government has cleared the appointment of Delhi High Court Chief Justice DN Patel to the post of Chairperson of the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT).
  • His service period will be four years.
  • The appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) which is chaired by the Prime Minister.
  • He will replace Justice Shiva Kirti Singh.

2. Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava appointed as Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court

  • President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court.
  • In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President appointed, Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava a senior-most Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice.
  • He will replace chief justice Akil Abdulhamid Kureshi.

3. NIESBUD Signs An MoU With Ministry Of Rural Development For Implementing The Start-Up Village Entrepreneurship Programme

  • The MoU will develop a sustainable model for promoting entrepreneurship at the grass roots by initiating the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP).
  • SVEP is a sub-component of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
  • It aims to support entrepreneurs in rural areas to set-up enterprises in the non-agricultural sector.
  • DAY-NRLM is implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development.

4. India gives nod for indigenous development of light tanks for mountain warfare

  • The defence ministry move comes amid the Army considering the Russian offer of Sprut light tanks and private firm Larsen & Toubro working with DRDO to convert howitzer Vajra into a light tank.
  • It is expected to boost Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for self-reliance and is the first defence ministry announcement since the launch of the Defence Acquisition Procedure 2020.

5. RBI selects Intellect Design Arena for Cloud Native Intellect Quantum Core Banking solution

  • Intellect Design Arena will implement the upgraded version of the Cloud Native Intellect Quantum Core Banking solution to power the next stage of the digital transformation agenda.

6. Celebrating 75 years of Indo-Netherlands ties; Special logo unveiled

  • India and the Netherlands established diplomatic relations in 1947.
  • Since then, the two countries have developed strong political, economic & commercial relations, and various sectoral co- operations.
  • The Netherlands presented 3,000 fresh tulips to India, as a symbol of friendship, which were planted in the Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan gardens.
  • The Netherlands has Europe’s second-biggest Indian diaspora community after UK.

7. ITBP Organises Ladakh’s First Ice Wall Climbing Competition

  • The North West Frontier of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) organised an ice wall climbing competition in Ladakh for the first time in the country.
  • More than 100 climbers from 13 teams across the country took part in the ice climbing event.
  • The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Radha Krishna Mathur graced the opening ceremony of the event.
  • ITBP was founded in 1962.

8. NASA, ULA Launch NOAA’s Newest Earth Observing Satellite

  • NASA successfully launched the third in a series of next-generation weather satellites for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
  • The newest Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite, GOES-T, launched on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force GOES-R satellites main job is to help with weather prediction.

9. Tata Motors launches Anubhav mobile dealership for rural areas

  • Tata Motors has launched its newest initiative the ‘Anubhav,’ showroom on wheels, a doorstep car buying experience for the rural customers.
  • According to the carmaker, this initiative will help increase reach in Tehsils and Talukas, which have high potential in terms of rural population, and economy.
  • 103 mobile showrooms have been deployed around the country.

10. Indian Railways tests indigenous train collision protection system ‘Kavach’

  • ‘Kavach’, which literally means armour, is being promoted by the Railways as the world’s cheapest automatic train collision protection(ATAP) system.
  • The ATP system has been built to help the Railways achieve the goal of “zero accidents”.
  • Kavach is designed to bring a train to a halt automatically when it notices another train on the same line within a prescribed distance.
  • It will cost Rs 50 lakh per kilometre to operate compared to about Rs 2 crore worldwide.

11. Paytm partners with IRCTC for unreserved and platform tickets

  • Digital payments company Paytm has partnered with IRCTC to provide digital ticketing services to consumers through Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) installed at railway stations across the country.
  • IRCTC = Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.
  • This is the first time that Indian Railways is providing digital payment option for providing ticketing services through UPI on ATVMs
  • QR codes can be scanned on ATVMs installed at railway stations.

12. Mahindra Group partners Google Cloud for digital transformation

  • Mahindra Group and tech giant Google Cloud announced collaboration as part of the homegrown conglomerate’s digital transformation strategy to fuel its next phase of business growth.
  • Under the collaboration, Mahindra group’s digital, data and cloud centre of excellence will use Google Cloud’s secure and reliable infrastructure and advanced data analytics technology.

13. Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar inaugurates NIC Tech Conclave 2022

  • National Informatics Centre organized the #TechConclave2022, focused on Emerging Technologies applicable especially in e-Governance.
  • Theme – “Next Gen Technologies for Digital Government”.
  • The conclave will enrich the IT Managers of the Government Ministries / Departments on the latest ICT technologies and their use on the latest technologies and industry practices

14. Rajasthan govt announces Rs 10 crore budget to promote cattle rearing

  • Faced with a declining number of camels in Rajasthan, the state government has announced a ‘Camel Protection and Development Policy’ in its budget 2022-23.
  • Camel is the state animal of Rajasthan and their number is continuously decreasing.
  • According to the government figures, there are now less than two lakh camels left in the state.
  • The Rajasthan government had declared camel as the state animal in 2014.
