1. KV Kamath appointed as Chairman of Jio Financial
- KV Kamath has been appointed non-executive chairman of Reliance Strategic Investments, a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd.
- Reliance Strategic Investments is to be renamed as Jio Financial Services.
- He has also been appointed on the board of Reliance Industries as an independent director for a period of 5 yrs.
2. UNFCCC (COP 27) scheduled to be held at Sharm El-Sheikh International Convention Centre, Egypt
- Union Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav attended the 27th Session of Conference of Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 27) scheduled to be held at Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from 6-18 November, 2022.
- India invites all countries to join the LiFE movement – Lifestyle for Environment, a pro-people and pro-planet effort.
- COP 27 is named as the COP of “Implementation”.
3. India’s forex reserves reached 531.081 billion goes up by 6.561 bn US Dollar.
- India’s forex reserves increased by 6.561 billion to reach 531.081 billion US Dollar for the week ended October 28.
- Foreign currency assets stood at 470.847 billion US Dollar.
- The value of gold reserves increased from 556 million to 37.762 billion US Dollar.
4. Indian Army approves five Make II projects including drone kill system
- Make -2 projects are essentially Industry funded projects involving design, development and innovative solutions by Indian vendors for development of prototypes.
- The Indian Army is already progressing with 43 ongoing projects under the Make -2 procedure of Capital Acquisition.
5. The Union Govt constitutes a panel for strengthening assessment and accreditation of Higher Educational Institutions
- Union Government has constituted a committee for strengthening the assessment and accreditation of Higher Educational Institutions.
- The mandate of the Committee is to prepare a road map for the National Accreditation Council envisioned in the National Education Policy, 2020.
- It will be headed by Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIT Kanpur.
6. CSIR-NIScPR organized the Student-Scientist Connect Programme.
- A Student-Scientist Connect Programme organized by CSIR-NIScPR.
- This programme was conducted under the Jigyasa programme of CSIR.

7. Finance Minister launches biggest ever Coal Mine Auction of 141 Mines
- Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman has Launched the 6th round of coal mine auction of the Ministry of Coal.
- She pointed out that coal imports for the power sector has come down by 41%.
- The Finance Ministry has extended Rs. 6000 crore incentive for coal gasification and Rs. 250 crore for exploration process.
- India is the second-largest coal-producing country, with production of 767 MTs in 2021.
8. Chqbook and NSDL Payments Bank tie up to launch zero-balance digital current account
- Chqbook, a neobank for small business owners, has launched a first-of-its-kind digital current account.
- Small business owners like kiranas, chemists, can open a current account instantly on the Chqbook App from their smartphone and in a language they are comfortable with.
- The current account is available in eight languages making it more accessible and easy to understand.
9. Ela Bhatt, SEWA founder & women’s activist, passed away
- Born in Ahmedabad on September 7, 1933, Bhatt, a lawyer, first joined the legal department of Textile Labour Association (TLA), and later founded SEWA in 1972, born out of the women’s wing of TLA.
- She received the Ramon Magsaysay award and the Padma Bhshan Awards.
10. Adani New Industries installs India’s largest wind turbine, taller than Statue of Unity
- A wind turbine taller than the world’s tallest Statue of Unity with blades spanning wider than the wingspan of a jumbo jet has been installed at Mundra in Gujarat by Adani New Industries Ltd as part of its renewable energy expansion plans.
- The turbine has been installed by Mundra Windtech Ltd (MWL), a wholly-owned subsidiary incorporated by Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL).
- India has the fourth highest wind installed capacity in the world.
11. Israeli PM Lapid concedes defeat; Benjamin Netanyahu set to become next Prime Minister
- Israeli PM Yair Lapid has conceded defeat in the general elections and congratulated opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, whose coalition of right-wing parties secured a comfortable majority in parliament to form the next government and end the political impasse plaguing the country.
- Netanyahu’s party won 32 seats, while outgoing PM Yair Lapid’s Yesh Atid got 24 seats.
12. Energy Efficiency Services Limited appoints Vishal Kapoor as CEO
- Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has announced the appointment of Vishal Kapoor as its chief executive officer (CEO).
- Before joining EESL, he was working with the Ministry of Power as a joint , during which he led various government interventions, schemes, and reforms in the distribution sector.
- Founded in 2009, EESL is promoted by Ministry of Power, Government of India.
13. AirAsia exits AirAsia India, sells 16.33% stake to Air India for Rs 156 cr
- Malaysia-based AirAsia Group has exited AirAsia India by selling its remaining 16.67 per cent stake to Tata Group-owned Air India for Rs 155.64 crore.
- AirAsia Group said AirAsia India can use the “AirAsia” brand name for 12 months.
- AirAsia India has been making losses since its first commercial flight on June 12, 2014.
14. Union Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar chairs steering committee meeting of National Natural Farming Mission
- During the meet, the portal (http://naturalfarming.dac.gov.in/) was launched which has been developed by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
- It contains all the information about the mission, implementation outline, resources, implementation progress, farmer registration, blog etc., which will be useful for the farmers.
15. India’s October iron ore exports ‘nearly zero’: FIMI
- India’s iron ore exports dropped to “nearly zero” in October, and overseas shipments of the steelmaking raw material are expected to continue to languish due to higher export taxes and lower demand from China.
- India in May raised export tax on low-grade iron ore lumps and fines – with iron content below 58% – to 50% from zero, and hiked the duties on pellets to 45% from 0.
- NMDC is the largest producer of iron ore in the country.
16. UM Shri Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates Centre for Policy Research in Maritime Studies (C-PRiMeS) in chennai
- A Centre for Policy Research in Maritime Studies (C-PRiMeS) of Indian Maritime University (IMU) in Chennai was inaugurated by the Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal.
- The C-PRiMeS centre will undertake maritime studies and act as a think tank for the development of the marine economy.
17. President of India inaugurates and lays foundation stone for various Central and State govt projects in Sikkim
- The President inaugurated the Atal Setu viaduct connecting West Bengal and Sikkim at Rangpo on National Highway 10; the two-lane Chisopani traffic tunnel including approach roads in East Sikkim.
- The President also laid the foundation stone for the National Institute of Technology, Khamdong, East Sikkim.
18. Indian men’s squash team win their first ever gold medal at Asian Team Championships
- In Squash, Indian men’s team clinched their first-ever gold at the Asian Squash Team Championships.
- They defeated Kuwait in the final in straight sets in Cheongju, South Korea.
- It was Saurav Ghoshal and Ramit Tandon who won their games in the final to dole out a 2-0 defeat to Kuwait.

- Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of NITI Aayog today launched the fourth edition of ‘Innovations for You’ coffee table book featuring 75 successful women entrepreneurs of India.
- These women entrepreneurs are supported by Atal Incubation Centres (AICs) of AIM, NITI Aayog.
- The book captures success stories of these start-ups supported through Atal Incubation Centres.
20. Ninth round of India-South Korea CEPA up-gradation negotiation was held in Seoul
- The 9th round of India – South Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) up-gradation negotiation was held in Seoul.
- India raised serious concerns about the growing trade deficit between the two countries and discussed market access issues.
- It was agreed that the 10th round of CEPA upgradation negotiations will be hosted by India in early 2023.
21. Several initiatives taken by EC to make elections accessible for Specially Abled people
- Election Commissioner Anoop Chandra Pandey launched the PWD App 2.0 and a Training Module on sensitization of election at the National Conference of PWD Icons for Accessible Elections in New Delhi.
