1. UM Rajnath Singh (head of DAC) clears proposals worth Rs 76,390 crore

  • Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), in a meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for Capital Acquisition Proposals of the Armed Forces amounting to Rs 76,390 crore under ‘Buy (Indian)’, ‘Buy & Make (Indian)’ and ‘Buy (Indian-IDDM)’ categories.

2. Satish Pai MD of Hindalco Industries, appointed the new chairman of the International Aluminium Institute (IAI)

  • Hindalco Industries MD Satish Pai has been appointed the new chairman of the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), the body representing the global primary aluminium industry.
  • Earlier serving as vice-chairman, he succeeds Ben Kahrs, chief innovation officer, Alcoa Corporation.
  • Miles Prosser, Secretary General of IAI.
  • The IAI was established in 1972.

3. Railways increases the limit of online ticket booking through IRCTC website and app

  • The Railways Ministry said, it has decided to increase the limit of booking maximum six tickets in a month to twelve tickets by a user ID which is not Aadhaar-linked.
  • The Ministry has also increased the limit of booking maximum twelve tickets in a month to 24 tickets by a user ID which is Aadhaar-linked.

4. Nuclear-capable Agni-4 Ballistic Missile tested successfully from APJ Abdul Kalam Island

  • India successfully carried out a training launch of nuclear-capable Agni-4 Intermediate-Range Ballistic Missile from APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha.
  • The successful test of Agni-4 reaffirms India’s policy of having a “credible minimum deterrence” capability.

5. Indian Army Contingent participates in “Ex Khaan Quest 2022” – hosted by Mongolia

  • A Multinational Peacekeeping exercise “Ex Khaan Quest 2022” featuring participation from military contingents from 16 countries has commenced in Mongolia.
  • Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the President of Mongolia inaugurated the Exercise.
  • The Indian Army is represented by a contingent from the LADAKH SCOUTS.

6. To mark the completion of eight years of the Union Government PM Modi addressed ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ in Shimla

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
  • Marking the completion of eight years of the BJP government, the programme was organised across the country at state capitals, district headquarters, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
  • Modi also released the 11th instalment of financial benefits under the PM-KISAN scheme.

7. In Bangladesh Border Coordination Conference between BSF-BGB concludes

  • A 4-day Inspector General BSF- Regional Commander BGB level Border Coordination Conference between India and Bangladesh was held in Sylhet.
  • A five-member Border Security Force(BSF) delegation was led by IG BSF Sumit Sharan. Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) was led by Brigadier General Tanvir Gani Chowdhury, Regional Commander, Chittagong.

8. In Bengaluru IKEA India to open first store on June 22

  • IKEA India (part of the Ingka Group), the global Swedish home furnishings retailer said that it will open doors to its store in Bengaluru, located at Nagasandra on June 22, 2022.
  • The large-format store will be connected to the Nagasandra metro station, which will support a faster and more comfortable commute, making the store accessible for the many people in Bengaluru.
  • Two big format IKEA stores are operational in Hyderabad and Navi Mumbai.

9. Government report shows India’s textiles exports highest-ever in FY22

  • India recorded its highest-ever textiles and apparel exports in the financial year 2021-22 at USD 44.4 billion.
  • The exports tally, which also includes handicrafts, indicates a substantial increase of 41 per cent and 26 per cent over corresponding figures in FY21 and FY20, respectively.
  • The USA was the top export destination for the country’s textiles and apparel shipments.
  • The USA was followed by the European Union (18%), Bangladesh (12%) and UAE (6%).

10. PM Modi releases 11th instalment of PM-KISAN benefits worth Rs 21,000 crore

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 11th instalment of financial benefits worth Rs 21,000 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme to more than 10 crore farmers in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
  • Under the PM-KISAN, financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to the eligible farmer families, payable in three equal instalments of Rs.2000.

11. NHA launches public dashboard for Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission

  • The National Health Authority (NHA) under its flagship scheme of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) has launched a public dashboard for real-time information on the scheme.
  • The ABDM public dashboard displays detailed information on the core registries under the mission – Ayushman Bharat Health Account numbers, Health care Professionals Registry and Health Facility Registry.

12. Anurag Thakur inaugurates sports complex named after wrestler KD jadhav in Pune University

  • Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated the Khashaba Jadhav Sports Complex on the premises of Savitribai Phule University in Pune on May 28.
  • Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav was an Indian athlete.
  • He is best known as a wrestler who won a bronze medal at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki.
  • He was the first athlete from independent India to win an individual medal in the Olympics.

13. Nadal defeats Casper Ruud for 14th Roland Garros title

  • Rafael Nadal captured his 14th Roland Garros title and a record-extending 22nd Grand Slam trophy, dispatching Norwegian Casper Ruud.
  • By earning a 22nd Grand Slam crown, the Spaniard has moved further clear of Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer in the Grand Slam race, with the Serbian and Swiss tied on 20 major titles.

14. As part of bilateral defence cooperation India, Bangladesh hold joint military exercise ‘Ex SAMPRITI-X’

  • A joint military training exercise between India and Bangladesh commenced on June 5 at Jessore military station in Bangladesh.
  • The exercise ‘Ex SAMPRITI-X’ will continue till June 16 as part of bilateral defence cooperation.
  • The Indian contingent is being represented by a battalion of the Dogra regiment.

15. Food laboratory of FSSAI inaugurated by Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya at Raxaul in Bihar

  • The laboratory has been established under the Indo-Nepal bilateral agreement to reduce the time in the testing of imported food samples brought into Raxaul from Nepal.
  • Earlier, all the imported samples having legal sanctity were being sent to National Food Laboratory at Kolkata, for testing.

16. Sakshi Malik, Divya Kakran, Mansi Ahlawat win gold medals at Bolat Turlykhanov Cup

  • Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik (62 kg category)won her first international gold medal in almost five years at the Bolat Turlykhanov Cup wrestling tournament at Almaty in Kazakhstan.
  • Two-time Asian champion Divya Kakran and Mansi Ahlawat also bagged golds in the 68 kg and 57 kg categories, respectively.
  • Sakshi Malik last won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Championships in 2017.

17. President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the centenary celebrations of Gita Press at Gorakhpur

  • President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the centenary celebrations of Gita Press, the world’s largest publisher of Hindu religious texts.
  • The President said that ‘Kalyan’ magazine of Gita Press has a prestigious place as collectible literature from the spiritual point of view.
  • Gita Press was launched in 1923 by Jaya Dayal Goyanka.

18. Swapnil Kusale-Ashi Chouksey win 50m rifle 3P mixed gold, India end ISSF World Cup on 2nd spot

  • Swapnil Kusale and Ashi Chouksey won the gold medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) mixed team competition at the ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun in Baku, Azerbaijan.
  • This was India’s second gold in the tournament after the trio of Elavenil Valarivan, Shreya Agarwal and Ramita won in the 10m air rifle women’s event.
  • India had also bagged 3 silvers in the tournament and finished second behind Korea.
