- No Smoking Day is observed every year on the second Wednesday of March.
- Observed to raise awareness about the harmful health effects of tobacco via smoking and to encourage people all over the world to quit smoking.

2. T Raja Kumar appointed president of the FATF, global money laundering watchdog
- Singapore’s T Raja Kumar has been appointed as the president of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
- FATF is the global money laundering and terrorism financing watchdog.
- His appointment, which begins on Jul 1, is for a fixed two-year term.
- He was selected to succeed Dr. Marcus Pleyer of Germany during the FATF plenary.
- Singapore has been a member of the organisation since 1992.
3. President of India Sh. Ram Nath Kovind To Confer Prestigious Nari Shakti Puraskars To 29 Outstanding Individuals
- As many as 29 outstanding personalities will be conferred with the prestigious Nari Shakti Puraskar for the years 2020 and 2021 on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
- In all, 28 awards (14 each for the year 2020 and 2021) will be presented to 29 individuals in recognition of their exceptional work in rendering distinguished services towards the empowerment of women.

- Bharti Airtel and Axis Bank announced a collaboration for offering financial services, starting with a co-branded credit card for subscribers of the telecom services company.

6. Ninth edition of India-Sri Lanka Naval Exercise SLINEX begins in Visakhapatnam

7. MSME Ministry launches ‘SAMARTH’ to promote women entrepreneurship
- The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has launched SAMARTH.
- It is a special entrepreneurship promotion drive for women.
- Under SAMARTH, 20 percent seats in free skill development programmes, organised under skill development schemes of the ministry, will be allocated for aspiring and existing women entrepreneurs.
- This will benefit more than 7,500 women in 2022-23.
8. Govt launches Donate-a-Pension programme
- Union Labour and Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav launched the ‘Donate-a-Pension’ program under Pradhan Mantri Shram.

- Indian public broadcaster Prasar Bharti has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the over-the-top (OTT) platform YuppTV to enhance the global reach of DD India channel.

- Microsoft said that it plans to establish its largest India data centre region in Hyderabad.

- The National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), the trusted telecom cell, has granted the US-based telecom software provider Mavenir a “trusted source” approval.

- Indian companies are expected to dole out an average increment of 9.1 percent in 2022, higher than the pre-Covid-19 increment in 2019, as companies are focusing on retention of talent through rewards.

14. India Added Record-Breaking 10-Gigawatt Solar Energy Capacity In 2021
- In 2021, India installed a record 10 gigawatt of solar capacity, registering a 212 percent year-on-year rise according to Mercom India Research.
- In the firm’s latest report, it revealed that in 2020, India saw 3.2GW of the solar capacity of installations.
